If you don't want to read this stuff just skip to the question below. Thanks.
I'm trying to get my 1.6a to run at 2.6ghz. It's at 1.675 volts right now and idles at 39c and doing prime95 right now it's at 51c.
Windows seems stable but I'm having some prime 95 wierdness. If I tell prime 95 the cpu is a p4 running at 2608mhz it gives this error on the 1st or second iteration:
FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.4998168945, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file.
I also hear a strange buzzing type noise coming from the computer. However the computer had this noise when I was running the cpu at 2400mhz and it ran for 28hours without a hitch.
Wierdly enough if I tell it I have a pentium 3 1.4ghz cpu it seems to run without a problem. There is no buzzing noise coming from the computer though.
I know it's not the memory as it's running at 122mhz and the pci/agp is 33/66.
My Question
Based on the system seeing stable but prime 95 failing when I tell it I have a 2.6ghz p4, should I just ignore it and enjoy my 1.6a running at 2.6ghz or should I try pumping up the voltage to 1.7 or more? If you reccomend pumping up the voltage what's the max safe voltage that the p4a can run at for say 1 to 2 years?
Edit: Bumped the voltage to 1.7volts. Gets through 10 iterations and dies. If I tell it I have a 2608mhz P3 though, it doesn't complain and no buzzing noise. Wierdness.
