I usually run the Blended test on Prime95. When I only had 512MB of RAM in my system it would max my P4 2.8c @ 50% CPU. I would run an instance of Seti@Home as well to push my CPU to 100%.
Since I've upgraded to 1GB of RAM Prime 95 doesn't take 50% of my CPU any more using the Blended test. It hits 50% for only 1-2 seconds, drops down to 8-12% for 10-15 seconds and then pops back up to 50% again.
I realize this is the Blended test which uses lots of RAM (as opposed to the tests that hit the CPU harder) but it used to max my CPU for as long as it ran. I'm just curious of why this is happening. Could it be related to running in Dual Channel now?
I use memtest86 to check my memory... Maybe now that I have upgraded to 1GB I'll have to use a Custom Test setting in Prime95.
Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks!
