I've set up more computers than I can count and never had any real problems but this one is getting me.
My overall problems is this:
I have a computer set up. Nothing is installed other than what is VITAL for it to run and install an OS.
It will turn on, load very slowly, and then either lock up or turn off.
I'm running:
Athlon XP 2100+
MSI Micro-Board
WD HD
LiteON Burner
512 DDR 2100 RAM
The motherboard is the only new part.
I have tested the RAM, it is fine.
When I go into BIOS to see whats happening it shows:
1) The CPU is running abnormally hot: 140F.
2) It detects the HD and CD-ROM without any error, but they are both slaves. (HD = Prim Slave, CD = Sec Slave).
I reinstalled the CPU.
No more random crashes but still sluggish.
I uinstalled the IDE cords thinking I must have put them on wrong but they are both flawless and new; no matter how I install the cords the two devices ALWAYS appear as slaves and Im thinking this may have to do with my problem.
I know that was a lot to take in, any advice would be amazing.
Thanks in advance,
Tyler
