i never made a general statement. i just said exactly what i personally have seen in the catholic church.

hey i agree... but i really don't know if that is true or not for this guy. this is why we have a justice system... and that thing with the teen, like i said, could have been 18, 19, whatever. 13 would be diffferent obviously.

1. Vow of celebacy, anyone?
2. Consensual in the same way that the Helsinki complex works with hostages?

Just throwing out thoughts.

death penalty for that? are you kidding me?

2. Consensual in the same way that the Helsinki complex works with hostages?

well, frankly i don't know the details of that situation. i think it's best to find those out before we make judgements as to whether this shooting was just or not.

My comment had more to do with your the splitting of hairs you were making with age. As far as I know, a vow of celibacy doesn't exclude 19 year old boys any more than it does 15 year olds, consensual or otherwise. Our secular legal system is what makes the distinction, not the church.

our legal system doesn't punish people for breaking a vow of celibacy. what is your point?

to alleviate any confusion, my example would break down like this: 19 year old, not even considered statutory rape, and if it is consentual, it won't be against the law. the church may have just decided to fire him for breaking the vow of celibacy. in other words, it is not a given that this incident proves he is a child molestor.
