Priest shot

glad he didn't die (so the shooter guy doesn't get charged with murder

i have no sympathy for that priest.. why is it ALWAYS little boys? what is wrong with catholicism?

i guess if it was a girl, it wouldn't make any news....

but then again... i think they have less contact with little girls no?

do you REALLY think child molesters are ONLY catholic?
I think he was referring to the string of priests being accused of it.

I'm sure if it were a string of rabbi's people would be asking the same thing of the Jewish faith.

ONLY if the jewish church tried to cover up it up like the catholic church did. lets get that straight, catholic priests do not molest any more than clergy from other denominations, afaik. it is how it is handled that is different.

and btw, this priest was only accused of these things. just because somebody accused him of it doesn't mean it is true.

i don't know why people are surprised by the scandals of the catholic church. even in the past they did a lot of screwy things. not to mention the the jewish community that practically owns the media in the US likes pointing the finger and exposing catholics as much as they can. i guess they're still mad at the church of "non-involvement" during WWII.

Doesnt matter if he is accused. Guilty by association

From the article:

"His faculties as a priest were removed after Blackwell admitted having a consensual relationship with a teenage boy more than 20 years before. "

you don't find it surprising that the catholic church didn't view child molestation in the same way that the rest of the world does? i was obviously naive, but i would have given them more credit than that.

wouldn't this be a different boy?

on a different note, that boy could have been 17, 18, 19... not to mention the thing was consentual. that is not the same thing as molestation.

I am being a sarcastic pissant 🙂

oh... well in that case, carry on 🙂

There is no excuse for a shooting like this. However, the fact that the church took action against the priest for other sexual abuse problems only adds credibility to the shooters abuse claims. How that mitigates any charges against the shooter is for a jury to figure out.

The shooting is tragic. So are all the real cases of child abuse documented, so far.

The worst part of this whole mess is the proof that others in higher positions of authority in the church knew about it for decades and did nothing to stop it. That is criminal, and those responsible should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. :|

not really. most catholics that i know are pretty immoral people that try to cover their ass by going to church every sunday and trying to look like a good person.

hey i agree... but i really don't know if that is true or not for this guy. this is why we have a justice system... and that thing with the teen, like i said, could have been 18, 19, whatever. 13 would be diffferent obviously.

I could say the same thing about Baptists, Lutherans, Methodists, etc, etc, etc.... that I know. A few rotten apples does not however spoil the whole bunch.
