I got a DVD burner to convert all my family videos, and i finished that. Since I don't have time to work a real job over the school year, I am hoping to get some income of converting videos for people while i'm working on homework. How much is a decent price for each 2 hours of video?

Probably not teh super best quality ever. I did my VHS and 8mm and couldnt tell the difference. I'm using a friends 600 dollar SVHS player, pretty good quality, but my inputting is with a Radeon DDR Vivo, which is pretty good at the highest setting, but probably not the best possible. I use TMPGEnc to convert, and then burn to DVD-R. So, overall, quality is decent but not quite professional.

you might want to get a better capture card, and DEINTERLACE YOUR MATERIAL before burning it to the DVD.

By better capture card do you mean a, say 800 dollar Matrox RT2500 type, or a new VIVO card. I've finished my home videos, and they have turned out pretty good. How do I go about deinterlacing it, will i notice a quality difference, and how long does it take? thanks for the comments

The Matrox will not really help you..It is a very nice product, but it's strengths only show in realtime effects etc...

I have the Radeon VIVo in my PC and although it is nice, it is not the greatest...so it probably will NOT suffice

THIS doesn;t look too bad

Then again, the main problem with your Radeon is the RCA-in only.

A card such as the pinnacle has s-video in. You might get similar results using the YBBv code or whatever it is called, but s-video will be the best

Keep in mind that you can also use video filters to perfect the transfer, but remember that the clips won't exactly be "Dv Quality" just because they are on DVD

Remember, the pinnacle card is designed for effects and other stuff, so don't get it. I jsut wanted to show you an example. I doubt there isn't anything that you can cheaper

Happy hunting!:D

Also, look into DVD cases and some nice labels for the discs.

For pricing, I'd

1) Definitely give bulk discounts, and
2) Call around to businesses that offer the same service (should be in Yellow Pages) and charge a % of that

Also consider advertising though flyers or advertise in a neighborhood bulletin board/newspaper
