I agree that the movie prices are getting ridiculous (both theater and rentals), so I only go to the theater about 2-3 times a year, and rent none. Most of the movies I see are at the $4 theater (the big hit movies all end up there eventually). After a couple years of this policy, I don't feel that I've really missed out on anything.

Once I started to wean myself off mass entertainment (movies, TV, concerts) my wallet has been much happier, and I've made a lot more friends.

um just think how few movie stars actually get paid tens of millions for a movie, yes you could probably count them on one hand:p you only get tens of millions if you can open a movie and sustain it for far more then that.

you focus on the actors? why? there are slime buckets at studios that make more then that:p

solution is simple, don't go:p

me, i'd rather boycott corporations that hide from taxes by going offshore:p

With 3 kids i always "sneak" in candy and soda for them. Im not paying 40 bucks for candy, popcorn and soda for them. Have any of you ever stood back at the popcorn stand and just watch what people buy and how much they spend. I seen people on countless times spend over 70 bucks on popcorn, candy and pop.....

What interesting to me is that the 10-screen theater near my college in rural ohio was $4/person for all movies (first-run, not old movies) and popcorn/soda was only a dollar. I move to chicago after graduation and its more than $10 for a ticket, and $4 for popcorn/soda. Blah.
