QFT...had a user two days ago send a flaming email that their printer was not working.

Get there and sure enough "PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE"...replaced it. It was about 50k pages overdue.

Today another user said our complicated Lanier (LD245) never prints anymore on letter. Another associate logged into the machine and saw 'Letter tray 1 and 2' empty.

We were told by both 'the printer should page you'

Do people really feel this way? How lazy, stuck up, etc. do you have to be? Why buy a product if you don't intend to learn how to use it properly?

You work tech support, don't you? By now you should KNOW that most people don't bother reading the instructions first :)

To be honest, I don't like reading manuals too but I usually figure it out and I do read it when I can't.

If I pay $5000 on something then you are damn right I am reading or at least referencing the manual. I don't want to screw it up if it is expensive like that.

oh I forgot on ATOT everyone has countless free time to read the manuals of every item they've purchased.

so what exactly is "pontifexing"?

Apparently it's a verb.
