Price Watch... should I use it?

I've never bought anything off of a site linked from Price Watch before. If I buy a retail video card from a site listed there, will I just be able to deal with the manufacturer, or will I have to go through the online dealer?

Basically, my question is this. If I find a great price on some no-name site that is either not listed, or just listed as average by resellerratings.com, should I go with the card or fork out the extra cash to someone else?

I'd definitely go w/ an online reseller w/ a good rep, such as newegg. If you buy from the cheapest and something goes wrong your basically screwed. It's worth spending a few extra $'s for the added security. Plus, you don't want to give your hard earned money to jerks do you? For instance I bought some Corsiar xms 2400 ddr ram from memory suppliers (AVOID!!!) because it was incredibly cheap and I ended getting shafted. I recieved Micron ram and it was never replaced or reimbursed.

RSR is a good site. Generally try ordering from a site with at least 10+ referals as well as a 5.0 or better.

Another good price search site is PriceGrabber it might not have everything pricewatch has but it is very well organized and easy to use. They even have filtering tools so that you can choose the card you want. Eg GeForce3 with 64 megs of ram, manufacturer etc.

I use PriceWatch to find the best prices, and then I double check with Reseller Rati9ngs to ensure the vendor is reliable. If they arent then I look for the next best price on PriceWatch until I find the best price from a well rated vendor.

I NEVER buy from newegg. I tried to order a GF3 from them and they said In stock...took 2 weeks and i looked into it and they said it's not in stock! I asked ahat GF3 they had and they had NO CARDS AT ALL! I quickly cancelled and ordered elsewhere...look at the GF3 selection now...all their ti200 cards with exception of the gainward 128MB are out of stock :-0

i think newegg's problem is this...they get so many orders for the hottest items and latest things that they can't keep up. Backorders abound. They have good ratings, but soo many people use them that they are missing stock alot.

I use the same approach as Rand but sometimes shipping and tax costs are a consideration. I have gotten
Items from Z-buy, Directron and some others without any problems.
