Price update!! Athlon Thunderbird 1000MHz for $119 @ newegg!!

Time to trash your ol duron and upgrade to thunderbird!! i have this cpu, it oc for me to 1060MHz stable using DHP 6H51 HSF, pretty good deal.
Upgrade Planet
[edit] oh wellz that old deal was gone, it could have been my first successful hot deal post, damn upgrade planet, DAMN YOU UPGRADE PLANET!!, well price update at newegg, they don't sell 900MHz athlons but they have a sweet deal for 1GHz for $43 more, but they could overclock to 1.5GHz if you are lucky![/edit]

FYI, shipping is 9.99
but 85 bucks(plus shipping) for a AMD t-bird 900Mhz is freaking hot deal!!
The cheapest on pricewatch is 87 bucks without shipping.

They are in VA, suprise surprise...

On top of that, they are in Woodbridge...

And so the plot thickens...

I'm just bummed that VA doesn't have any cheap computer parts places. Upgrade Planet is pretty cheap, but they only do business on the web now.

i think this could be my first successful thread that will go over 50 posts? ya think? oh and please stop by and give bumps, opinions, and tips

AMD must have dropped the price or have some promo going on since the local store where I get my parts dropped the TBird 900 to $89 and 850 to $79 over the weekend.

<< Upgrade Planet is pretty cheap, but they only do business on the web now. >>

Actually, Upgrade Planet (a.k.a. Memory Plus) also sells their products at the local VA and MD computer shows. However, when I attended one, their PC133 (256 MB) sticks of memory were priced $20 higher than their Web price.

the only good deals upgradeplanet has is that one cpu, did you see the scary prices if you bundled the cpu with the ram? damn 60 for their crappy heatsink fan, you could get a swiftech mc462 heatsink for that price, and i don't even then you need a fan if you use that heatsink with 900MHz speed processors. No fan=No noise 😀

I used to buy alot of CPUs from Upgrade Planet. They were cheap, but VERY slow shipping. My last order was charged to my credit card on May 7th, and I still haven't recieved shippment (over $1500!!). I have since disputed the charge with my CC company. No answer at CS and no reply to e-mails. I wonder if they have gone belly-up??

I'm holding out a little longer. With a Duron 700 running stable at 1083MHz I've got to see something significant to upgrade.

I read that AMD will announce its 1.4GHz desktop Athlon processor and a new 950MHz Duron chip this week at the Computex trade show in Taiwan, and Athlon chips running at 1.5GHz and above, are scheduled for introduction in the third quarter of this year.
AMD might be looking to stop making the 900MHz processor soon, which might explain the new price cuts.
I'm waiting for the 1GHz to reach the $100 level before I buy one.

Is this card Slot-A or Socket-A? I have a Slot-A 900mhz T-Bird and have always wondered if I could OC it very far. But the info is needed just to be sure the deal is solid.
Tt

That is a good price, but I have my Duron 700 stable at 1000mhz. What do I need an extra 1 or 2 hundred megahertz for? 1000 is plenty !!!!

Ordered 2 AMD T-bird 900Mhz.
Hope it comes thru.
Wanna built a dual mobo server but the mobo is freaking 500 bucks!!!
Ah well....gonna built two computers then (one for mother and another for sister)
