Price of PC's Going Down

Has anyone noticed that manufactorers like HP and Compaq have some extemely cheap systems. Usually every Sunday in the adds from Best Buy or Circuit City there is a Compaq with a Semperon 3000+, 512MB of Memory, 80GB HDD, and usually a free printer or something, and a moniter for just $300. Another manufactorer is eMachines with the Celeron D 2.53Ghz and basically the same system as the Compaq also for just $300. Is it me or are some of these prices really good? But you also have to remember that there are rebates involved and those can be a pain.

Makes you wonder how they can make a profit with those machines. I don't think I could build on of those for the price they are getting. Might be able to find the hardware for that price, but once you include software, a warranty and that fact that most if not all of the compatability issues have been worked out for you.............How Do They Do It? I would think that cheap labor and buying parts in mass volume are the only reasonable explinations. What do you think?

Yeah I guess they really make those kids in foreign countries work hard to make PC parts. No just kidding. But I do wonder how they get profit. I can't even build a computer for that cheap. It's crazy.
