Price of butter is crazy

SandEagle

I picked up a box (4 sticks) of Land O Lake (LOL) butter and it was $4.18! i remember when this was .99 long ago and only about 2.99 recently. fffffff. mark my word, food costs will skyrocket next

You think that's crazy, A fresh loaf of bread from a market is pushing 4 fucking dollars.

It costs, maybe, 15 cents to make that same damn loaf of bread at home.

people are idiots.

Thought I don't think I want to churn my own butter...

Is Land O Lake the real butter or butter with a ton of additives? The real one turns yellow if you keep it unwrapped for a while. The fake one will stay just as bright white as it was the minute you unpacked it.

Thanks to big oil, the military-industrial complex... and everyone who voted for Bush.

FFFUUUU.... How is Bush now responsible for the price of fucking butter?
Yes, Kaddaffi secretly conspired with Bush to raise oil prices so that you can't afford your tinfoil hat any more.

the 99 value menu I eat from all the time will stay .99 regardless how high gas gets. God bless fast food.

Ah who is the president right now?

15 cents? Damn I have to stop eating out and buying pre-made grocery's.

It's going to kill me anyway, WTF do they add sugar to fruit, salt to soda anyway? Time to bake at home.

My wife bakes a lot...so we always have at least 5 pounds of butter in the freezer. We watch the sales and buy several pounds at a time. Last week, $2.29/lb.

I'm with potluv...it's all Bush's fault. If he hadn't started the Iraq war...gas prices wouldn't have skyrocketed a couple of years back...the folks in the middle east wouldn't have these odd notions that they have a right to democracy, and the commodity traders and big oil wouldn't be bending us over an oil barrel and shoving a huge dick up our asses...without the benefit of any lubrication.

Oil deliveries haven't changed...oil availability hasn't changed...the only thing that's changed is the price.

It's all George Bush's fault.

Dear christ, if you think the value menu is healthy what do you eat normally? Bacon deep fried in lard?

Nah I just much larger portions, when I eat out I'll get a 1/4th or MAYBE a 1/2lb burger. At home it's 1lb, and probably stuffed. My side dishes will be around 2-3 times as big as an average diner gives you. I do deep fry my bacon, but not in lard. I use Peanut Oil, and I wrap it around cheese and bread it. Makes some killer Mozzarella Cheese Sticks.

And I never said a value menu's healthy, I just said it's healthier than what I'd cook at home, which is technically true.

I have some cholesterol problems, so it's a splurge when I do get some.
Why can't I buy just ONE stick, not four or eight?

Up here, butter was cheap (well under $2/lb) before Thanksgiving. I bought 6-8 pounds just about every week. We're doing fine on that inventory now that it's up to $2.78/lb.

Deep freeze ftw.

Butter prices haf been low for like 10 years due to the health craze and people substituting margarine and low fat milk for butter and full fat milk.
Since a few years back when it was determined margarine may actually be bad for you the price of butter has been on the rise.

It's energy intensive no? Both in making, storing and transporting. Throw in (non fuel related) inflation and you got price increase.

I don't use much butter; maybe a pound per year. I have no idea what I paid last time, or what it costs now.

Bread is $2/loaf here for the 100% wheat kind that I buy.

$1/loaf for the enriched stuff.

What kind of bread do you buy?

Think prices are bad now? Just wait a little while.

The high prices of fuel drive up the price of fertilizer, transportation cost, and finally the end product.

When gas was close to $3 a gallon, fertilizer was around $22 - $23 for a 50 pound bag. Now that we are in the $4.30 range, I am looking for fertilizer to hit the $30 for a 50 pound bag. If that happens, you just "think" your food is expensive now.

I suspect that the price of food will continue to rise for the next 4 - 6 months. Even if gas prices come down sometime soon, crops planted with expensive fertilizer will have to be sold high to recover expenses.

When Sarah Palin gets elected as President of the United State of America in 2012, her 1st priority is to invade butter rich countries.

Terrorists are moving into the butter industry; the price of butter has gone up, in order to fund the rocket propelled grenades Hamas is using to terrorize Israel.

Firing back SCUD missles on schools and hospitals is NOT enough! We must attack the source of the problem.
