$1.49 after rebate, plus $5.89 for the cheapest shipping, at least for me. I don't know where that $3.99 price is coming from. And no free shipping even if you add more stuff to the order.

I have one of these. Those sample pictures I would say, are on the good side. Most of my images come out rather blurry and ghosted. The main problem I have with the camera is that the 8 megs of memory built in on the camera seems volatile. If I try to transfer more than 30 images, it crashes windows. If I keep it under a low amount, it usually works, but still crashes some times. I've tried this on three different computers, and they all have the same problems: too many images = crash, small amount of images = crash sometimes. I've tried updating the drivers to no avail. If you do purchase it, beware!

yep - another price drop- looks better then most webcams i guess (unless your talkin about the $50+ logitech ones)

From what I have read, you can either use this as a webcam, or as the world's worst digital camera It runs off a single AAA battery, and the battery is being continuously drained anytime pictures are in its memory. So apparently people have a problem with taking pictures with it during the day, bringing the camera home, and by the time they get it home at the end of the day the battery is drained and the pictures are gone.

These things are "reconditioned" as well. Apparently the customers who originally bought this thing for considerably more money, thinking they were getting a useable low res digital camera, were unhappy with it and returned them in large volumes.

I just ordered one, and buy.com shipped it out the same day. I figure $5.90 for a webcam shipped, I can't go wrong with that.

For about $6 after shipping, this sounds great.... wonder if it has drivers for WIN/2003. Can't be any worse than the crappy PARALLEL port Creative webcam... jimmy-rigged from 9x drivers to run very unstable on WIN/2003
