Price Drop: EA Sports Games $29.99 + Take $5 off at Best Buy

EA has dropped their Sports title to $29.99 from $49.99. At Best Buy use the well known gamers gift card which is free and get an extra $5 off. I had one of those mcdonalds coupons for a buck so I got Madden 2005 today for $24+tax. I've been waiting for the price drops to happen since I don't like playing full price for their sports titles which they release each year. And I'm sure people will chime in about ESPN NFL 2k5 which is $19.99 but people play madden because...well it's Madden

No kidding. EA has just alienated their best customers - they make them pay $50 for the game and then allow the stragglers to get the deal.

Married with a kid (another one on the way) leaves me very little extra disposable money. Luckily this meant that I didn't buy any EA titles. I only bought one ESPN title and am having fun with it.

It's the gamer's gift card. Go to the game aisle in BB, and in CD jewel cases, or just the plastic game cases, you will see a Gift Certificate with a coupon attached. Buy the giftcard, and the is worth $5 off any game (over $20 I think)... Walk right back into the store and grab the game, use the giftcard you just bought, use the coupon, and get the game $5 off

anyone know why Tiger Woods 2005 is still $50? Is there a set amount of time that a game has to be out before the price is dropped? I'm going off BB's website that has Madden for $20 but Tiger Woods for $50.

ESPN doesn't have a golf game. They aren't competing with anyone for golf except the regular priced Hot Shots. In the release they put out on Monday, Tiger wasn't mentioned. I don't think they are going to lower the price on Tiger.

did you guys read this letter from the wife of an EA programmer ? They treate their workers like $hite too. Madden should have been discounted from the get go this year. They are making money hand over fist, and give nothing back to the gaming community.

Yea but to be fair I don't think Madden has ever dropped in price that fast and that quickly after release. How long has it been out now? It's not like Madden '06 is being prepped for release next month or anything.

What console game do you know that drops $20 in price after 2 months of being on the shelf?
The ESPN sports games must obviously have pressured EA into the quicker than normal price drops.

I only got Madden myself instead of ESPN Football because there are so many diehard Madden fans that refuse to play anything else... namely all of my friends.
