Update

How low can they go? Last week it was $20 off this week it's $30 off.
ZipZoomFly again just dropped the price of the 8800gts. It now cost $399.99 shipped. Add the $30 MIR and the price drops to $369.99. I think that's HOT!

EVGA 8800gts

NewEgg has the same deal, but you must pay shipping:

amazing how quickly the prices on 8800 GTS/GTX have dropped and rebates started 2 months after introduction. I imagine the price will fall even further in the next 2 months when ATI R600 is introduced. Fans of both camps win!

Why are the prices dropping so early?
is nVidia coming up with new products?

That is a great price, I just bought mine for $409+shipping. I just accepted the fact, that like all new technologies, in another month or two, the price will be far less.

I don't understand why Nvidia got in trouble for price fixing, haven't they been doing this for a while now?

Doesn't seem like too much.

Well no one is technically in trouble for price fixing yet. They are just investigating.

I'm tempted to buy this card, but will this drop in price radicially once ATi gets their DX10 cards to market?

In for one, thanks OP. I prefer this over newegg because I don't have to pay sales tax on this and shipping is free.

I would buy from newegg even if I had to pay sales tax. Because I know with newegg that is the card arrives defective I can get it replaced. With ZZF you don't know what you're gonna get. their CS is the worse since they never answer their phone.

Wouldn't eVGA cover that though, and AFAIK eVGA has great customer support.

You could do it with EVGA but would have to pay shipping cost both ways. I have to agree with rickn, ZipZoomFly's Customer service is Non-Existant.

I've pretty much decided to stop spending $$$ upgrading my video card every 6 months.
In fact back in Dec 06 I've canceled my eVGA step-up for the 8800gtx and used that $$$ paying for the new xbox 360 + a few games (with a few changes left) and not worry about my upgradaholic disease:) for a while, well not until prices drop below $300. ;)

I only upgrade when I can double my pc speed minimum... so since I was using a 6800 gs before... this card more than doubles it, no question... my 3700+ 1 mb cache is just about 1/2 of what I would get from 6400 at 3.2ghz, so looking at that one soon.

Hard drives don't matter (much), stripe them anyway in a raid.
