I'm playing through it right now and I just beat the first boss, I think its a decent game. Like the above poster said, the anti-grav and portals were really interesting the first few times, but they use it way too much. The main negative thing about this game so far is that...well...I've been pretty much fighting the same 3 enemies (literally 3, excluding boss), and it doesn't look like its going to change anytime soon. The weapons are pretty unique when you first get it, but yeah the initial interests wear off, but I guess its hard to be original with FPS weapons nowadays. So far the level design is pretty good, and I saw a few sights where I just went "wow!".

Right now I would rate the game a solid 7/10, hopefully it starts to pick up near the end.

It will bore you to death in the middle half. The final half will be very cool, but spoiled by the fact that it also has to be dragged out by throwing in enemies for the sake of padding length.

And you will be fighting those same 3 enemies until the very end.

Just spent an hour playing it. It's definitely interesting. The weapons are okay. The spirit thing is pretty cool, a neat way to do some of the puzzles. It's kind of boring and I found myself not really knowing what I was doing or what I was supposed to be doing other than running around and killing the enemy. Not sure I'll continue it to the end.

OK, I played the demo.
Fun, but its still a little too much like Doom3 and Quake 4, which is weird because its not made by ID.

I dont think I would want to pay 60 bucks for it, especially if I know I wont finish the game.

just finished it up, there were some aspects that were cool but the overall game had potential that was not quite fullfilled. I had been hoping for more but it fell short.

I just finished Prey over the weekend, and I came away VERY impressed. If you haven't played it, I'd definitely give it a shot. I had a lot of fun with it.

If you have the money to blow, buy it. If you don't but are thinking of buying it, Wait.

The story line was pretty good. It's starts out great but gets so-so at the end. Voice acting is not bad, a bit corny at times but not enough to bug you. GFX are good, though now and then I could see a bit of Doom 3 creeping in but I don't think that can be helped seeing as it's the D3 engine. Also I think they couuld have done a better job on models. But thats just me being picky.

The gameplay is really what makes it staind out, through the whole game you never really know wich way is up! A.I is ok, not dumb but not too smart though I'm sure on a harder setting that could change. Wepons are pretty well rounded, but I never found a "Omega Gun". My fave is the leech gun, different ammo helps to keep game play fresh. And the Buzz of your enemies Hunter Rifle in sniper mode will put you on edge. Some of the puzzles are amazing, the whole game is littered with small ones to once again keep things fresh and some are real head scratchers.

The ONLY real bother about this game is it can be beat in less than 9 hours. BUT the mutiplayer from what I've seen could save this game, some of the levels are so crazy I get dizzy just thinking about them.

This is a great game but only if you don't mind spending $50+ on a 8-10 hour game.

I started playing this last night and really got into it! The first big sequence with people being transported all over the alien ship was crazy! The graphics were very impressive as well and I was able to run 16x10 with HDR, 4xAA and 16xAF with very little FPS drop too . I see that this isn't going to last very long so I'm trying not to beat the thing in one night and take my time at it, but between the portal boxes, magnetic walkways, and exploding green bugs I'm hooked!

the ONLY thing that keeps me from picking it up is it's retail price . . . i haven't seen a 'sale' yet [sub$40].

ANYway, i am into B&W2 [and tons of user made mods for Oblivion]
- i can wait till it is bargain bin. :p

Probably going to skip it.

1. Backlog of other games to play right now.
2. It's not getting good reviews from my fellow gamers.
3. It's vaporware. NASA managed to plan, fund, build and launch two successful missions to Mars in the same time it took to write this game. Unless the game is so outstanding that I'm left blind but with dancing hallucinations of yummy goodness I'm not going to encourage such lousy development by forking over my hard earned cash.

It's hardly vaporware if it's available. Anyway, yeah, I've seen some fairly negative reviews about it, but I enjoyed the game myself. I really liked all the portals and gravity effects. It was at least something different from the average FPS. Nothing truly spectacular or revolutionary, but it was a lot of fun as a single player game none-the-less.

mmm, yes it's vaporware. It's been cancelled more than once and is nearly a decade late.

Duke Nukem Forever will eventually release (I guess). This won't strip it of it's vaporware award either.

I'll apply the same (muddy) logic to DNF when it releases: It better absolutely positively blow everyone away or it's not getting my money. Vaporware is annoying. If China can complete the three rivers dam before you can write some software maybe you should find a different job. Long delays and sh1tty software are both symptoms of the same problem...sh1tty developers that should be fired. Project managers can only be blamed for so long.

This is of course a strong opinion that I certainly don't expect everyone else to have. :) If you disagree I won't mind.

Prey is not vaporware if its released. Look at the definition of Vaporware.

meh.

When something is cancelled (more than once iirc) and nearly a decade late it's vaporware. If the project gets a breath of new life and is later released it doesn't magically not become vaporware for the last five years.

Play devils advocate with me if you want but you know what I mean.

I recently finished it - nothing exceptional but still a solid game.

I'd give it 8/10.
