Prey

According to the 1up podcast, the demo was 20% of the game. I played through the demo in a little over an hour. We're looking at about 8 hours of game play. Hasnt this game been in development for years?

HL2:E1 cost me $18 and took me 5 hours to play. This is $50 and might last 50-60% longer than that? Where are all you cost per hour advocates now!?! Huh? Huh? Huh?!

😉

Hmm... I got the impression there was a lot of game from the gamespot updated preview. How long was fear? I would rather have 8 hours of prey than 10 hours of fear. But you are right, if it is only 8 hours, that would make it a big rip off unless multiplayer really, really rocks.

MP is good if you like having a raging headache after 5 minutes.

Yea. The first game to give me Vertigo in years. Actually, over a decade.

Pssh. I was raised on Descent. Nothing fazes me. 😀

That was the game I was talking about, lol. I got aclimated, but there were some moments of confusion.

Prey didn't give me much of a headache, but I can't play HL2 for very long before I have to go lie down.

i have that problem with HL2. it got better once I changed the resolution from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 (which is native for my LCD), but after two hours I get so sick.

After play Oblivion for a while, HL2 seems to have a much narrower field of view. I felt almost claustrophobic when I loaded up Ep1. That kind of added to my discomfort.

You can easily change FOV through the HL2 console. I highly recommend it to all that have this problem...

Yeah. I remember reading a lot of threads about that when HL2 first came out. I didn't really notice it until I played Oblivion though.

i really liked prey's MP since there's always a surprise (someone upside-down or sideways).. also, i LOVE the leech gun 😀

all the doom3 engine games give me a headache (no joke). prey was the least worst of them all though, maybe its because i liked the storyline and there was actually brightness! i dont get headaches with MP fps's...or any other non-doom3 engine games.

That's a misleading comment. There are many levels later in the game that take as long to play as the full set of demo levels (45 mins), so I wouldn't worry, too much.

It took me about 8 hours to play through and that wasn't with much looking around, 6 hours really has to be blasting through it.

I thought the demo was great but if the game only take 8-10 hours to finish I will wait until the price drops to $30 or less before buying.

That's interesting, I just started playing HL2 single player again and I almost got sick as well after a few hours. I thought it was just me or maybe cause it was getting really warm in the room. I was playing it at 1152x864 and 4x AA/8x AS.
