Sounds OK by me. Maybe your side of the fence should try harder to retain its employees; if they are satisfied, they should have no reason to leave.

Not unethical at all - suck it up.
 
This is exactly what my wife's former boss tried to do. The lady was a classic micro manager who did not know anything about the work environment and had no clue how to follow processes. My wife took her spot and is working alot more but has a good assistant manager that is helping her get everything organized. Hopefully they can get everything organized and situated so she doesn't have to work so many long hours. BTW, this is at a financial institution.
