Pretty Warm - PC Power and Cooling 510W SLI Power Supply

34A on 12V rail for $199?

My $75 350W Enermax (bought 3 years ago) has 32A on the 12V rail...

GRRR @ what seems to be Anandtech's current ignorance of power supplies

EDIT: 33A on 12V rail for <$60 shipped

Seriously.. there is no reason EVER that someone should feel the need to spend $200 on a power supply.. the last $100 is ignorance. Would anyone spend $80 on a floppy drive? How about $50 on A/V cables.... oh wait..

If you absolutely gotta spend $200, at least get 60A and quadruple rails for 12volt..

what does this normally cost? i understand the bit about how this power supply is THE BEST... but why is this a hot deal @ $199?

A Ferrari is THE BEST sports car @ $600K
A Rolls Royce is THE BEST @ $1M

let me see if i have this right.....2 benji's for this power supply, and yet you still get charged 6.99 for delivery? bend over ralphy boy

yes its expensive (though that is the lowest price I have ever seen) but if you need the full 510 wats it will have no problem giving that and more while a lot of other power supplies fail when pushed to load. It also has among the best (if not the best) voltage regulation/stability. And if you think their 510 is expensive they have an 850 (which is realy capable of about 1000wats) for $450.

Ribbon13 or YoYohowsdajello would probably argue that the Seasonic S12-600w is actually the best power supply. It certainly is more efficient.

There's more to a PSU than shear amps on a rail. This PSU really is one of THE best. Very noisy though, so don't count on silence in the least bit.

Better price than usual, gotta admit. I'm use to seeing these things at around 220-230 or so. With my budget I wouldn't pay 200 for a psu unless I really needed it.
