Ok. I've read lots of reviews and comparisons etc. I need to narrow down my choices a little more though. This is really a 3-part question. If $$$ was NOT a limitation, whats the best 19" flat screen CRT out there?? If $$$ WAS a limitation, whats the best 19" flat screen CRT?? And, how big a difference will you see between the two??

OK all you people with Samsung chime in now.

All you people with Sony monitors go for it

Iiyama users now is your turn

Hitachi users, lets here from you

Other brands....

Odds are your questions will be answered based on bias (I own a particular model, or I sell these and think they are great)

Can I suggest you rephrase your question to something like this. I would like to purchase a new 19" monitor, and my requirements are (answer the following questions).

My primary application is (Fill in the blank)
I plan to run (Fill in resolution and refresh rate)
I plan on using (one / two) computers attached to my new monitor
Warranty and customer service is (very, not so, could care less) important to me
If you call customer service after you purchase do you (want to sit on hold, Listen to Musac, Go through voice mail hell, Talk to a real person)
The horizontal damping wires on an aperture grill monitor (annoy me, could care less)
If I had to choose one (sharp text, more vivid colors) is more important to me
Does the place I plan to use the monitor have high ambient lighting? (yes / no)

I believe that the answers to these questions will better suit your needs and your ultimate happiness with the monitor you decide to purchase.

Good Luck

I think you would be pretty happy with any of the high class models from each of the name brand manufacturers. I am just about to purchase a 19 inch and after endless reading I have decided that something with a trinitron/diamondtron is nice, the colors look better imo. I then narrowed it down to the samsung 900nf and the sony g400, both, from what I hear, great monitors. However, I have chosen the sony for a few reasons. I have heard of some odd geometry issues, nothing major, with the samsung, I have also heard of some warmup time issues, ex: 30 minutes to fully position the geometry correctly, and I am also biased towards sony, and I like the monitor casing better, other than that, they are both probly the same, the sony is a bit more, its all personal preference.

Ok. Well, I'm a hardcore gamer, and thats primarily what my system is used for. Most of the time I play using 1024x768, 32bit color for settings. My system is a 1.4Ghz athlon, 512MB PC2100 DDR, Radeon 64MB Vid. Card all running on Win2K Prof. Just need to know what the best 19" flat screen CRT is on AND off a budget (another words if $$$ mattered AND if $$$ didn't matter).
