Yea like a month ago, iam talking to them right now, and like they won't contact the corporate but instead giving me a manufactuere number. Any advice?

Wow been on hold for about an hour and still no answer, I was transfered to a supervisor and to which I am thinking they are very busy. Did you have to be transfered to one, now there giving me some b.s about how corporate denied my return offer and will now wont give me any other options.

You may be up a creek legally because they clearly say they will not accept returns under any circumstances and warranty is through manufacturer. But, there is supposedly an implied warranty of merchantibility (sp?) always applicable, which means it must perform the basic function for which it is intended. Unless one has an attorney on retainer it might be more expensive to hire one than to eat the loss. I hope it all ends up working out well for you.

well that sucks. Here's what I did:
The end of December, when the tv stopped working, I emailed Buy.com to tell them of the situation. They emailed me back the # for nuvision (who deals with Sova's tvs). I tried calling that number numerous times, but every time I called it would send me straight to voice mail, then it would say the voice mail was full and connect me to some lady's extension. She wouldn't answer the phone so it would give me her voice mail, and I left some messages, to which I never got a response back.

I then called Buy.com, and right away the operator told me about their Special Returns Policy (no Returns on TVs), but I informed her that Sova/nuvision are impossible to get ahold of, so I was stuck w/ a defective television. I asked her if Buy.com stands behind the TV's it sells or not. I gave the operator the phone number I used for nuvision to verify I had the right #. She then let me know she could make an "Exception" on my Return, but first she had to contact Corporate.

A week later (yesterday) I finally received an RMA email with the Return instructions. I also got a UPS Return Shipping label, so I can finally send the tv back free of shipping charges. The tracking # shows it will arrive there (CA) on the 22nd, so I'm hoping for the best. The email said it could take a week to process the return, and up to a week for a refund, so I guess 2 weeks after they receive it?

O, 1 other thing. When I took the TV into the UPS Shipping Center where I live (Iowa City, IA), the lady at the front desk said she has seen alot of these being returned. I asked her "the same tv?" and she said she thought so. She said some guy was sending 3 of them back to the online store he bought them from. So maybe we're not the only 1's having problems with this tv? I am thinking it is the same tv, since this tv comes in the Biggest box I've ever seen for a 32" LCD (I work at Sears, and all our 32" LCD TV's come in boxes about half the size of this Sova tv).

thx lukeman for sharing this story, well im glad buy.com did backup its words but i almost bought my friend this tv which would've been disaster.

Well lukeman, I hope nobody takes this as an offence, but have you been talking to indian ppl who can barely speak english and rly jsut follow a script

I only hear about people with bad tvs, but i want to hear the experience of people like me, happy with my tvs. I have two tvs working really good, and i am still waiting for the 3rd. I am running now with my pc at 1368*768 dvi and i have to say: this really look beautiful.

I have nothing to say but good things about this tvs(except for the remote code). I think this tv look better than the 1000 bucks sharp aquos of my brother ( i am talking about the image display).

Well, this is only my experience. Sorry for those guys with bad tvs. I insist this is not the brand, this is about luck (and the bad seller of course).

Theres many bad electronics made by the "best" brands we know out there. I am here looking at my old toshiba sd2710 dvd player with its known power supply defect, or my kodak easyshare dx6490 with it famous E45 error. All of them made by good and known brands. (Well not all have to be lucky). But.... no one say that toshiba or kodak are bad manufacturers.

Btw the luike, are you getting a refund or replacement?

well, they offer their products at pretty good prices, so they have no cash to pay the $10/hour an American is needed to work the phone, so they go with the $2/hour Indians.

I'm getting a refund. I think I'll spend a little more at a B&M store. I'll probably just hold off until next Black Friday and buy a 37"/42" lcdtv from MicroCenter or BestBuy, maybe Sears or KMart since I get my 10% discount there.

hey guys,

Im a new member here , I just bought the TV today and then found this forum.

After reading all the posts, I have a question to those people with problems with their Sova TV's, did anybody here purchase buy.com's extended service warranty with the TV?? does that help in getting quicker service in case of problems with the TV?? because I just bought that, and if its not helpful, I might as well cancel the whole order before it ships.

Go forward at your own risk, thats all I have to say.

It's prolly about the best looking (picture-wise) tv for under $700, so if you get a working 1 then you're in luck (only 2-3 tv's out of ~10-20ish reported on this thread were bad, so your chances are pretty good). I didn't buy an extended warranty. If you get a bad tv then have fun with that whole return/service bit.

Ok, I really did not understand much of what you said. Your sentance structure was not very good on that last post jwbr71.

I am so sorry of my poor english.

I am triying to say that at this time i have three sova tvs and all of them are working great, and i cant understand how we can say this is a bad product looking at two known cases of bad tvs. I have many good brand things with problems, and nobody say those are bad manufacturers (like my last examples of toshiba and kodak). Two of my sova tvs were working at a show this week. Three days without any problem (they were on more than 36 hours!!!!), with they own speakers and a cerwinvega sub100ve 100 watt rms subwoofer attached to the sub output. You cant imagine the picture and the sound. Really crisp and clear. (This is not only my opinion, but the people who were at the stand). They were working through vga input hooked up with a laptop (resolution 1024x768).

I will post the pictures on monday, if anybody want to take a look.

They were rented for 250 bucks per day. not bad ah?

those other brands off enough other models to offset their problemed models. This is the only thing I've ever heard of made by Sova. How many good examples have we had listed on this thread? About 15-20? With 2 bad cases. They are at ~10%-15% defective. Industry Standard is usually 5% defective I believe. What I really don't understand is my case in which the tv was fine when I got it, and after only 10 hours of use the Power Supply fried. This tv was either just unlucky or made from poor components if the power supply dies after only 10 hours of use.

I think this is only a bad luck. (I think my tvs are build with the same components as your)

Before we talk about %, we have to know that this tv is made by Ya Hsin Industrial Co., Ltd., and sova its only a name. Then we have to look at this info:

http://www.emsnow.com/npps/story.cfm?ID=23434

"Hyundai LCD TV orders
Ya Hsin Industrial Co.has received orders for 300K LCD TVs from Hyundai Group, with shipments to begin 4Q06. Ya Hsin is targeting shipments of 1.5M LCD TVs in 2007. In 2006, LCD TVs will account for 20-25% of Ya Hsin's revenue, and 40% of its 2007 revenue."

The problem with Sova is that there is ZERO customer service. What are you going to do when your Sova breaks during the warranty period?

Since HDMI is usually reserved for 1080P and this set only does 720P/1080I there shouldn't be much problem with this set.

Well update, BBB actually responded and said they will get back to me in 7 days once the company responds. So yea, iam hoping for 2 things. Either the BBB will come into affect or buy.com will let me get a new one.

YOU ARE RIGHT

Like i said before, the problem is the seller, and the zero customer service buy.com bring to the buyers. Sova (or Ya Hsin) made the tvs, but Buy.com are selling them. Remember you are paying to Buy.com the tv. They take the money and then do nothing if something happens. This is the bad thing i have been talking here. Not the tvs. It is like you sell something AS-IS. Finally, Buy.com have the money, and dont care about the rest. I think i am going to take my money back (renting them) before something happens. For now, I have the money of one an a half tvs back. Really, I have been testing my tvs hard without any problem (full resolution, full audio), and protected them with a voltage regulator as a precaution, and i think they are going to perform well for a long time.
