I orderd mine from Washinton and they told me it would ship out the same day. The ones from Washinton are brand new, not refurbubish, and the nice csr said she'd send instructions for the rebate with my order.

Just got my ShowStopper and I am in the process of setting it up.

Quick questions:

1) Who got Maxtor drives? Quantums?

I got a Quantum

2) How much noise does your unit make?

Mine lets out a high pitch "hiss" Not noticeable when the TV is on... but I won't be sleeping with this puppy on.

3) Refurb stamp?

My invoice doesn't seem to indicate anything about it being a refurb... maybe I can get more warranty coverage?

Ooo.. my machine is asking me more questions... gotta go!

I just received my 1000 from Colorado. The UPS man was quite impressed. Just want to thank everyone involved with this great deal. Been wanting a Replay for sometime.

Got my last week.

Here's some tips for all of you... It probably shipped with the 2.0 version of the OS... Here's how to force an update.

To check your version, press 411 and then the Replay Zones button. See what version you have... if it's 3.0 then you are good to go if not..

Exit out of that menu... then press 243 and the Replay Zones button. Select option 4 'Net Connect' and it'll dial-up ReplayTV and update all sorts of stuff [as well as channel listings]

I use the 243/Replay Zone button to force an update of all the channell information cause I don't keep the thing plugged in 24/7 [cords laying all over the house right now]

Hope this helps someone!

FYI... when you do update the unit, it will stop at 10% for a VERY long time... and will progress slowly between 10-15%

The unit is not frozen, and your connection is still good. Give it some more time.

The whole upgrade (not including the time to update Replay Zones, Channel Listings, etc) took 30 minutes.

Circuit City has the PANASONIC PVHS2000 for $399.00 before the rebate. Is this a good deal?

paulsaz,

Actually that's a damned good price at Circuit City considering that these things are normally around $599. In fact, that price brings it to about $300 after rebate for a 30-hour unit which is not too shabby. Particularly considering that I just paid $300 a week ago for a 20-hour ReplayTV 3020 at buy.com. Only real problem is the Macrovision thing (i.e., ReplayTV ignores it and Showstopper doesn't).

Anyone know of online coupons that can be used at the CC web site to improve the deal?

Cheers,

DerProfi

Well some might consider that a good idea, but if I were you I think I would just get one through CC.com for 299 after rebate.

lokitech, where did you read that ReplayTV went belly up? AVS Forum has nothing about such news...

Also, rumor has is the Colorado may be getting more in stock tomorrow.

Called a bunch of service centers today... no luck. Some had brand new units for $313 (1000 model) and $348 (2000 model), but no "refurbished" units at all. One rep told me that they heard that the pricing people were getting over the past couple of weeks was a mistake. Another rep told me that it was unlikely that we'll see that price again, and if we do it will be sporadic - a couple units here, a couple units there. He said it was information "from the inside," whatever that means.

So, I guess if you haven't gotten one by now at those prices, you're not likely to get one soon. If anyone finds a 1000 for less than $250 before rebate, or a 2000 for less than $300 before rebate, please post here.... ah, I mean, PM me, please. ;)

I heard the same thing about ReplayTV going out of business about a month ago. I figured that's why they were having the firesale on the Panasonics.
