Howdy:

With respect to your other two questions:

1) Yes, you can set the Replay to record from a set input
(input 1 or input 2 or line) for a specified amount of time.
Basically, if you could do it with a standard VCR, you can
do it with the Replay (Showstopper).

3) Replay/Showstopper stores material in a proprietary format.
So far, no one has figured out a simple way to get the material
off the Replay in digital form and onto a VCD.

I called Colorado and was told that they didn't have any units left but should be getting more so I proceeded to ask how many is on the waiting list and was told 9 at the time. I told her I was going to try another service center first to see if anyone else had it in stock and would call back to be put on a waiting list if I had problems. I tried Cypress and they only had the 2000 model so I called back Colorado. I told her I was only able to find the 2000 model and wanted the 1000 model only. She asked me if I tried the San Diego store and told her that the number wasn't working. It appears that they have changed their area code to 858 but the number was still the same and no forwarding info. So she asked me if I tried San Francisco (which is only 90 minutes away from me). She took down all my info and said she would call them up for me if they had any 1000 models. About 10 minutes later she called me back and said I got the 1000 model for $229. I can't remember her name but her extension was 124 if you want some great customer service. She went above the call of duty in this case.

Everybody I have talked to there were very nice and helpful. I just got off the phone asking how I was going to be able to get the rebate when the invoive says "refurbished" on it. She kindly said: "just slide a piece of white paper over it when you are making the copy." That will work for me. This was a good deal.

Picked up 2 new 20 hour units with my friend in Colorado location ($247 with tax each)-$100 rebate. Looks like Panasonic is seriously overstocked and there are plenty of units available.

Howdy, if you read the links posted by Rossman, you'll find answers to every question you asked. It is possible to transfer mpeg files to your PC hard drive with software that you will find following the links.I anticipate next Replay TV version with network interface. Meanwhile we'll have to swap hard drives back and forth to copy recordings.
Southern, you need original receipt, not a copy, but I was told Panasonic will accept it with "refurbished" stamp, because they will be checking upc code against their database.

Send in a copy of the original store-identified cash register receipt, with the purchase price circled. Please keep a copy of your receipt for your records.

This is from the rebate form. I guess you can send a copy. I am not sure if they will take it on refurbished units. I am not going to take any chances.

Hey, what's this about the 27' TV? What's the model number? Email me guy... [scott.rogers@bigfoot.com] I'd like to know the details. I don't even have a TV but I just purchased the DVR..

Also, I just purchased the 1000 model from the San Francisco center... $229.95! And the lady said they've got a few more 1000's in stock... [no 2000's though] She said the rebate would work. I actually called the San Diego store but she took down my info and placed the order.. she said it would go out today.

I talked to Laura at x 124 (major props to her!) and she called the SF service center for me to get the deal. She originally gave me the # and I called, but the guy there said they were charging $299 for the 1000, and $319 for the 2000. She got me 2 and I'm pickin' them up tomorrow. You can probably call the SF center @ 650-871-1397 and ask to talk to the manager there. Tell them Laura from the CO center told you to call and ask for the deal. If not, just have Laura do it. She's more than happy to do it for you.

I checked the Panasonic website and couldn't find an online copy of the rebate form to send in? Can someone provide the URL for me?

Is it just me or are all of the CA locations phones way jacked up. I was in their mailbox system listening to some jack@sses messages. What the hell? I guess I'll try tomorrow. Pretty damned funny listening to other people leave their name, address and telephone number.

Just ordered the 1000 from Colorado. Very nice CSR told me these units have never been used or refurbished. They just have to call them refurbished because the distributor sent them back. It seems the folks in Colorado didn't like the price tags on these babys.Anyway she said they are new units. Thanks to all for the GREAT DEAL.

I also picked up a 1000 for the $229, and I will also mention that the CSR(woman) was very very pleasant and helpful. Quick question any other reason for buying the 30hr vs 20hr if you are going to hack the puppy then the extra 10 hrs ???

Thanks ahead

I called today and spoke to a very nice woman who said that not only is Colorado sold out, the final 3 units on the west coast (in San Francisco) just sold out as well. She added that for some reason, the east coast service centers aren't putting theirs on special.

Oh well, I've got the ReplayTV-branded one coming from buy.com anyway....I was just looking for a 2nd unit.

I set mine up this morning (20 hour). After the whole process I noticed that it had the wrong channel lineup. I couldn't figure out how to change this. Anybody know? Also, the software is somewhat old, how soon will it get patched upon dialup?

I called Colorado and they even though some others mentioned they were out of stock ... they took my order and honored the price shipping it from another facility.

If your still interested ... keep trying.

Has anyone who ordered from Colorado when the 1000 unit was
$289 been able to get a price correction to $229...I bought
one at $289 a few hours before the $229 price was noted elsewhere.
Now it seems everyone has the $229 price...(I can't cancel
and reorder, as my unit is already in shipment).

Tried Colorado and Pennsylvania (at Colorado's suggestion) for the 1000, but no dice. Pennsylvania had brand new units for four hundred-something bucks... no thanks.

If anyone finds any more 1000's at the $229 price, please post here or PM me. Thanks!

just talked to colorado (130pm est) and the 30 hour units finally arrived in today...all the panasonic/quasar centers got short-shipped becuase of the sudden demand for these things...anyway the csr said all the orders should ship out today or tomorrow...she did not think they would be getting any more 20-hour units at the $229 price point...only the east coast outlets have the 20-hours in stock and their prices are close to $400 for the 20-hour unit

Got my 20 hour unit today from Colorado.

The invoice/receipt has a "refurbished" stamp on it...It's
not a refurbished unit, but I think they are stamping them
all refurbished so that you can't return them (limited
returns/warranty on refurbs).

Does anyone know if there's gonna be a problem getting the
rebate with the refurb stamp on the receipt? They enclosed
a copy of the rebate form with the receipt, so they obviously
don't think so!

Another question, which I asked before but got no responses to:
Has anyone who purchased this unit before the price reduction
to $229 (I paid $289, I think) gotten a retroactive reduction?
I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice...
