Wow, after reading some of the comments my faith in humanity has decreased. The comments are dark funny, disturbing, stupid, and sad at the same time.

Jerry: Sophie, it's me! I know about the tractor story! And I'm fine with it!
Sophie: How could you know?
Jerry: Shhh! Shhh! But I'm not going to let something like this ruin what could be a meaningful relationship.
Mickey Abbott: [Kramer and Mickey enter] You gave me gonorrhea and you didn't even tell me!
Cosmo Kramer: I gave you gonorrhea because I thought you'd have fun with it!
Mickey Abbott: Well, you should have told me!
Jerry: I'm with somebody!
Sophie: No, I understand! This can be a difficult thing to deal with! But the important thing is that you have a partner who's supportive.
Cosmo Kramer: You know, she's right.
Sophie: But of course, I didn't have a partner. I got gonorrhea from a tractor.
Jerry: You got gonorrhea from a tractor? And you call that the tractor story?
Sophie: Yeah, my boyfriend said I got it because I was riding the tractor in my bathing suit.

I just realized how sad and pathetic some people can truly be.

Back to the story, I really hope she makes it through this okay although it doesn't sound good.

Its sad how ones' life can turn around in an instant. Live it up people. You never know whats gonna hit you next. Hope she makes it out cos her father seems so optimistic. Its truly an unfortunate incident and should not happen to anybody.

- yes some people here are assholes

- i wonder if there's a significant other in the picture, would he stick around for this... would you?

- in the video the dad says she isn't really aware of what's happened to her body yet and they're keeping it from her because of her current state with the breathing tubes, etc. It was a bit of time after the accident until she actually got to the hospital so she has to know something terrible has happened. I wouldn't blame her for choosing to die after this... women and appearance and all that... but she's not given the choice right now... ethical issue at hand.

Damn. Leg, part of abdomen, and fingers.. and she had a heart attack and died. Life will just kick you straight in the nuts sometimes.

404 whoring Not Found.

On May 1, she and some friends were out near the Little Tallapoosa River, about 50 miles west of Atlanta, when she grabbed onto a homemade zip line, her family has said.

It snapped.

That led to a gash in her left calf, and ultimately it took 22 staples to close the wound, according to CNN affiliate WSB.

Athough she didn't know it at the time, it was because of that cut that Aimee Copeland contracted the flesh-devouring bacteria, Aeromonas hydrophila.

my friends and i used to swing out in the 'hooch on a homemade rope swing back in high school. it still amazes me to this day that none of us died considering how many rocks and trees were in the area we were swinging. i don't even remember any serious injuries.

wonder if it's still there.

have you been to p&n?

This is what happens when pretty blonds whore themselves out to get more excitement in their life, no content with the usual lame stuff regular people do. Better luck next time... if there's one.

Necrotizing fasciitis often results from very minor injuries. People have gotten it as a result of spider bites and even paper cuts.

I don't mean to trivialize this woman's suffering but the only reason she's getting all this coverage is because she's hot. NF is rare but it isn't *that* rare. Although all this crap about her survival being a "miracle" is horseshit. NF is extremely serious and very much life-threatening but it is far from universally fatal.

According to CNN:

Just last month, she had a full and active life. Aimee was pursuing her master's degree in psychology, with a focus on eco-psychology -- the idea that harmonizing with nature can be a powerful tool in ensuring one's psychological health and vitality.

Indeed, but in context to the severity of her infection and her surgeries, it may not quite be horseshit.

Just having her survive limbless is better than death for this family. I can't imagine being forced to choose between such limited options..

I don't know what survival rates are for a case that has progressed as far as hers, but knowing how awful the media's reporting on science and health stories is I'd be very surprised if the "miracle" bit was overhyped.

I'm curious of the possible hypocrytical statistical relationship between those who rip on 'fatties' in society yet also rip on the media for profiling the pretty people.

In fairness, in the article, the only time "miracle" came up was when they quoted the dad at the very end.
