Pretty big promo in CompUSA and Staple

There seem to be a pretty big promo occurring in your local CompUSA and Staples!
It seems to involve the Win Me promo edition (upgrade from Win 98's) for $49.
Also, you would be eligible for quit a few of other deals that will give you an extra
$50 rebate, such as the WD drive and the Intel Cam. Also, quite a number of things from Logitech
is selling at a very cheap price! Wonder what's happening with Logitech lately?
Anyhow, it's a good weekend to check it out; I think this sale ends tomorrow, Sat.

CompUsa promos are very tricky, I have been there when the store opens, its a war and a fight to get them to honor their ad rebates, get one free etc.

The store managers are terrible at customer service

CompUSA managers are so bad at customer service, that when I insisted (politely) on them honoring a deal, the manager told me he would do it but I was never to come into his store again.

Staples had free Photosuite, Canon Video, Internet Postage, and 2 other useless (to me anyway) freebie softwares. The way it works at Staples, they tally up everything on the register using retail prices first, then they apply coupons for each of the 5 freebies. Finally, tax. WinME was 49.90. After the freebies were tallied, my total came to 134.51. Then, after the coupons for the 5 freebies were applied, my total came down to 33.88! The clerk couldn't figure it out either, but what the heck was kind of her gesture and said she saved me a bundle.

Comp USA is Suck.

They sell cheap garbage at cheap prices. Nothing they have is a good deal in the end.

1) to the anandtech board: I know it can be annoying when ppl post old topics, but just remember that they do not realize it's old and are just trying to help - it's already a hassle enough to inform us about hot deals, but to bitch (I know, no one bitched yet) at them and tell them to use the search function, you are basically telling them to go above and beyond when they're trying to help; so just try to be accepting of ppl who are posting out of their kind heart; of course, to the ppl who still post a lot of hot deals and do a search to make sure it's new, more kudos to you too.

2) headache, it's wise to use the search function next time b/c there will be anal retentive ppl who'll just whine about everything (I've come across a fair share of them myself)...but then again, you could make the titles of your post more descriptive so you won't trick ppl into reading a topic that's been posted before.
