I think you should be able to find plenty of "pre-tested" CPU's right here at the For Sale forum. Lots of good people to deal with if you check Heatware refs. Ton's of nice chips from time to time. Better prices generally than "retail" places.
 
Sunny129, I have gotten one batch of cC0 since then, but the results were not as impressive as the batch yours came from.

I have some coming from an S-Spec I cannot find on Intel's site. They are SL4P8. I have no idea what I'm getting into, unless these are the new cD0, which have some kind of heatspreader plate on them. 🙂
 
wow! that new S-spec sounds very interesting. if you dont mind, i would like to know how the OCing goes with that batch when you get them.
 
Seems to me the best pretested CPUs are those sold by AMD or Intel. In other words, if you want more processing power and you want to be certain that it will perform as advertised then spend the money and buy the correct part.
 
Why is buying a pretested o/c cpu dumb? Some of us want our computers to run a certain way and actually use them. Some of you seem to spend all your time building a computer like I do my drag car right now.
 
To all who laugh at buying something pre-tested. I had several 300a's that would do 450, but I wanted 504 so I spent a little extra and got one that would. Can't remember how much I spent extra, but it ws very little. Of course now I am shopping for something faster finally.
 
Bangsailio, what exactly dont you understand other than the stepping? is it the S-specs? the S-spec is a five digit identification code that identifies your CPU from all others. They exist for both retail and OEM CPUs. intel has a page full of the P3 S-specs at the site:

What Compuwiz1 is saying is that he is getting a batch of 700Es with the S-spec SL4P8, but intel's S-spec page doesnt include this spec, so he has no idea what is different about these 700Es. it would be interesting to see if they are indeed the new cD0s. i havent heard a thing about a new stepping coming out any time soon, but i guess it would logical to call it "cD0."
 
Ooo.. "cD0" Perhaps an enhancement for overclocking? oh well, im stuck with the crappy cA2 on my PIII.

oh, back to the topic of pretested CPU's -- Its all good. Its better than retail. if you ahve the money to spend, go OEM and feeeelll the rushhh. the overclocking rush.

I was looking at overclocker.com site and have a question. I have retail packaged Plll 700e that is SL45Y indecating that it is a cB0 stepping, but how do you determine what week it was made?

Compuwiz1, Thanks for deciphering the date code for me, I had breifly looked at Intel site but did not find the information. I notice the same question asked on another thread so now I don't feel so bad.

By the way did you ever determine what that new S-spec is, and did you ever get a chance to test some of these chips?
