Is it worth $20?

I got some kind of Xandros with my Eee900, and I wasn't particularly impressed. I much prefer Ubuntu on the Eee.

Ubuntu's a little pokey on the bootup, but release 9.04 is supposed to be a good bit faster. My Eee is generally plugged in, so I use suspend, and it boots up in seconds.

lxskllr, did you try on a desktop pc with x-fi card? did you get sound from it (without installing creative linux driver)?

No I didn't. I only used it on the Eee. I /think/ you may have to install the specific drivers to get the xfi to work. I recently booted to a live session of Ubuntu on my main rig, and it didn't have sound. That wasn't my reason for booting, so maybe simply un-muting the sound would have worked, but I don't think so.

thank you, we both use an eee-pc netbook and x-fi in the desktop pc. I use ubuntu intrepid where i had indeed to install the official creative driver to get sound (there was a way around before that with OSS) in pulse audio (but the card is limited to stereo sound, no cmss3D, ....)
