Has anyone pressure washed their car??? According to my pressure washer, you can do this, but wouldn't that strip the paint or at least prepare it to?

I have a pretty powerful pressure sprayer if you like. :lips:

if you have any cracks or chips in your paint it could pose a problem, otherwise I think you're ok as long as you stand back a bit

thats the last place to use a pressure washer. 99% of washers even say it on the box. high pressure water and engines dont mix.

i used to do my truck all the time, 2400 psi, i never put the tip right on it but i would do my underside really good with it. truck is 10 years old and still in fantastic shape because of it.

Yup. You don't want to drive water into the valves and other moving parts in the engine. If you want to clean it, you have to use chemical shampoo to break down the oil and other dirt and gently rinse it clean.

nah just visit any of the auto detailing freak forums. many people use pressure washer under the hood. you just have to cover the electrical components with foil and whatever.

i wouldn't use it though, inside or out

I hate when water seeps into my valves.

Those of you who wouldn't use a pressure washer... you'd rather have something at the car wash that's coated in grime and grit from previous cars rubbing against your car to clean it??

Or do you go to the touchless car washes... that use (drum roll) pressure washers.
Or the self-service car washes that use (drum roll) pressure washers.

You're not going to hurt your car with a pressure washer that has proper pressure for the purpose. Although, as stated above, if you have a super super heavy duty etch the concrete strength pressure washer, then you might want to stand back a foot or so.

no i wash it by hand.

Should be fine if you use the right nozzle. Most have some nozzle tha tyou can hook soap into and it sprays a water/soap mixture too. But I thing you get far better results using something that actually rubs the car like a car wash or sponge wash or whatever...

Of course you can pressure wash the exterior of your car and it won't damage the paint in the slightest. Unless you've got some outrageous 10k+ psi monster pressure washer...

you can use a pressure washer on your car, just dont use have it adjusted to were it sprays that real fine tip water, have adjusted to were it sprays more spread out. instead of like this ------. having it spary like this <
