There is usually a "Detect Accidental Clicks" option in the mouse or touchpad control panel/driver options.

This has always been my problem with touchpads. So, I always disable the touchpad. HP/Compaqs are easy - they have a switch. Everyone should have that. On my IBM/Lenovo T60, I disable the touchpad in BIOS and leave the pointing stick on for "emergency use only." My primary input device is a small travelling wireless mouse. Each OEM handles its touchpad differently. And, there is a command that auto disables the touchpad while the keyboard is in use. Check inpout device parameters in Control Panel.

Sorry about the double post - that happens when there is queueing and . . .?

Anyway - to add - in the Mouse controls in Vista Control Panel you can select "Hide Pointer While Typing." That might help, but it is not a good solution - especially when editing a document.

Some laptops have an auto disable feature when ever a mouse is connected. That's cool.

But the hardware switch on HP's is the best.
