Prescription Oakleys...

Do I have to go to an authorized dealer or can my local shop work with them just the same? The closest prescription dealer to me is almost 100 miles away, not sure if I want to make that trek, but I really love the e Wire 2.1s.
 
An authorize dealer to actually make the prescription lens... or to buy the glasses from? I was told i can take my Oakleys to a prescriptionist and they can just do that for me.
 
Well I don't know. I figure I could buy the frames from somewhere online then take them to my local shop to get lenses? Or is the only place I can get newer model glasses at the authorized dealers?
 
I'm pretty sure you can do that... when i bought my Juliets, they told me i can just go to the prescriptionist down the mall to get prescription lenses.... maybe they were lying to me. I never bothered since my prescription are so weak anyways.
 
I was looking at the ewire 2.1 too at their site a few days ago. It looks cool, but it looks kinda thick though for my taste. But that could just be the picture. At least it doesnt look as thick as the other ones

Okay, I got my Off Line 6.0s (yes I have a big fvcking head) for like 60% off by going through an eye doctor with my Vision Service Plan. VSP got me the frames, polycarb lenses with UV, green tint, scratch-resistance, and superthin lenses all for $128. Not a bad deal.

My friend bought a pair of Oakley Juliet. He took the Juliet to a local Oakley authorized optometry to get prescription lenses put in them. They shipped the Juliet to Oakley to have the lenses made/fitted for him. If you want your pair of Oakley sunglasses with prescription lenses to look exactly the same as a regular nonprescription Oakleys then you need to let your optometry send it directly to Oakley. His Juliet is $275 plus another $150 for the pair of prescription lenses. $425 for a pair of sunglasses, no thanks. 😀

yeah, that's crazy...that's almost as much as my glasses cost!

and speaking of Oakleys, I haven't looked up foakleys in a while. 😀
 
i like the O Wires those things are soooo pretty ! 😱
square wire 2.0s might be cool too because for sunglasses those fit me the best (i have one)
 
I guess the reason why it costs so much is because Oakley actually puts the color coating on top of the prescription lenses. My friend's Juliet has blue lenses, so the prescription ones are also blue. Also, they're supposedly scratch-resistant.

You mean the frames are scratch resistent or the lenses? The frames i might understand, since they're titanium... but i can guarantee you that the lenses are not scratch-resistant.
 
The actually receipt says SCRATCH-RESISTANT COATING for the lenses. I neither want to doubt that claim or believe that claim. If I have a pair of $400+ sunglasses, I'm not going to push my luck and try to scratch that thing even though it's claimed to be scratch-resistant. For $400+, I'm not even going to wear it, but just have it in the display box in my closet. 😛

get insurance on it.. if it's possible and oakleys are lifetime warranty i believe
