Prescott E0 won't run on my IC7 mobo

I'm having problems booting into Windows (both XP and 2000 reboots at the bootup logo) with my new E0 SL7PN 3.2Ghz (not OC'd) on IC7 v1.1, and have tried BIOSes 2.8, 2.7, 2.6.

Went back to my 3.0c northwood. I have previously run Prescotts SL7E4/SL7E5 on this same board using BIOS 2.5.

Could this be a defective CPU or some mobo or BIOS incompatibility issue?

I had a heck of a time getting my 3.2ghz ES to boot up. I upgraded my ABIT IC7-G bios to 28 and it worked fine. Of course i had to use my Northwood cpu to do it.

If the CPU is a new stepping, the BIOS may not have the proper microcode update patches for that CPU contained within, which can affect stability. There was a problem with Prescott CPUs and XP SP2 involving that, in fact.

Yeah he's right. I had to install XP with the original CD. My SP2 slipstreamed CD would always lockup when windows update would try to install a patch for prescott compatibility.
