Prescott 3.0 GHz temps with stock Intel HSF

I obtained a MSI motherboard with a 3.0 GHz proc. It is running the stock Intel heatsink and fan and I have no idea as to what thermal compound may have been used. Anybody else running the chip in a similar configuration? If so, I'm curious as to what operating temperatures you are seeing.

get an all copper heatsink for your chip. i have a friend that has EE prescott and damn things warms up his aluminum case. Presscotts are also known as mini reactors because they get so fricking hot! i got my friend(bestman also) a Zalman 9500 for christmas and his temps dropped 10C right away. we also used artic silver 5 for the thermal compound. if you want your system to run for a long time make the change now as heat kills and shortens everything inside the computer lifespan.

my Skt 478 3.0E normally runs around 45-50c at idle and usually 60ish at full load, it's OC'd to 3.4ghz and is still using the stock HSF unit

I have a 551J 3.4 w/ hyper. I bought the system from Book pc. Stock before I got my greasy mitts in it she ran over 50c idle. Now with a coolermaster L3 overclocked to 4.0 its ildle at 40c, load hits 55

Thanks for the replies. I have not been able to spend much time with the system that I am putting together, but it runs about 54c idle and really have not put a load on it other than checking email and installing OS updates. Will probably look for a better cooling solution along with some quality thermal compound.
