In my newspaper today Office Depot is offering the Compaq Presario V2000 notebook for $349.99 after $50 mfr MIR and $150 OD MIR 3/16-3/19. Configure to order. Must be ordered at store. Shipping applies. (I don't remember what OD's shipping is for these -$40 maybe? Anyone know?) Configuration code from the ad is 03017128.

Intel Celeron M Processor 360
processor operates at 1.5GHz
256MB memory
40GB drive
CD/DVD player
Widescreen 14"

edit: According to wallyangler's post below "you can also get a free HP PSC 1410 all-in-one printer after an $80 rebate."

Could not find online - the next model up they had was back ordered.
Where's the ad?
Is it certain places only?

Is that Celeron or Sempron system? Any idea?

allisolm: yes, shipping is $39.50 unless they do something different for the sale

rgreen83: OD's rebates are mail-in

configurator is here

I think most people will at least want to add the WLAN card @ $25, maybe Brightview @ $15.

Good deal if you're happy with the Celeron & integrated graphics.

I used the configuration code you gave me, I didn't change anything and the price shows $554.45 after rebates.

Let's see, refer to OP at top: Must be ordered at store.

I did this deal this morning. You need to configure it on the OD in-store computer to see the right prices. Some of the upgraded prices are higher than what you see on the Techdata site. You can also get a free HP PSC 1410 all-in-one printer after an $80 rebate. Shipping for me was only $35 for some reason.

Thanks OP! This deal was not in my local papers but I went down anyway with the config code and all was well.

I got in on this deal last time it was offered, upgraded to the AMD Turion64, Upgraded to the wireless card, AR it was around $420-$460, can't really remember, great deal though.🙂

Just an FYI, Staples is offering a similar deal this week with the same specs but instead of a celeron it's a Sempron. This is after only one $50 MIR. Plus, you can get a free HP PSC 1410 after a $80 MIR.

There's no shipping charge either. Throw in a Staples coupon and this may be a bettr deal than the OD one.

If the Staples offer is the same price but with free shipping and only $50 MIR, that sounds like a better deal - especially in states that pay sales tax. Anyone have a copy of the Staples ad?

Is this a good deal? The sale will be good for us until tomorrow <Sat>.

What upgrades do you guys recommend? I am out of the loop with all the new hardwares for the last 5 years.

Svnla,

I'd recommend at least the wireless upgrade for $25 and the Brightview upgrade. If you don't buy the built in wireless it's hard to add later as the BIOS locks out most Mini PCI cards and the antennas aren't installed. See www.dv1000forums.com for more info on these laptops.

I can't find the Staples deal.

It's in store only. The circular shows a $150 instant savings, a $50 laptop MIR, and a $80 all in one MIR. There's also a new additional $100 instant savings (on top of the $150) they recently added so make sure you get that too.

Just called my local Staples (Portland, OR). They have the AMD version of this (V2000Z?) for $399 with only a $50 mail-in rebate. Wireless and the rest are extra, of course, and he wasn't sure on how much, but I would guess wireless is $25.99 as that seems to be standard with these models.

Nice alternative if you don't want to have your money tied up in MIRs. Ends tomorrow.

Same here. Got the v2000z AMD Turion64 with card readers, wifi & bluetooth for $484 AR including the $40 OD shipping and added 512mb FREE best buy RAM(dead deal). The AMD with the ATI 200M built-in games a bit better than the Intel, but it is still no desktop replacement. If this is a Built To Order deal get the fastest hard drive they offer, the 4200 lags. And of course Celeron is :disgust:

Happy hunting.

Edit: The last time Staples ran this deal the shipping was $75. I hope it IS lower now.
