Presario CPU upgrade question

Get 939 cpu and board. Theres generally a 5-10% performance boost over socket 754. I would recommend a 3000-3500+ Venice. If your going to OC the Venice will do much better than the Clawhammers. the 3500+ would be a good choice but nothing beats a 3000/3200 for the price.

This is a laptop, so I am not going to change the motherboard. Wish I could put in a socket 939 board and cpu, but I am limited to what I said above: the 754....

Thanks tho.....

When putting a faster chip in, is there anything to worry about in the way of cooling?

Thanks,

The existing cooling may not be able to handle the increased heat output. Meaning - your fan runs constantly to keep the laptop cool, or it just isn't enough and the laptop eventually shuts off no matter what.
