<< Why the hell would I post a thread talking about gays anyway? I don't agree with the lifestyle, and I think that Bush is right in the first place >>

Yea, I don't agree with the whole "black" lifestyle either, how 'bout you NFS4? We should get rid of thier month too.......

If you think that the two things are different, think again. People are scared of what they don't understand.

Being black is not a matter of choice. And there is a black "lifestyle?" How do you figure that. Tell me what a "black" lifestyle is Mr. Smarty pants.

Being black myself, I could care less if we had a Black History Month or not. I'm aware of my heritage on a daily basis and don't need a single month to point it out to me.

Idiots, stop throwing around "homophobia" like everyone who disagrees with the life style is afraid of gays. Geez, just because you disagree with something doesn't mean you're afraid of them.

Whoa!

Hell hath freezeth over!

I am defending Enginer!

His post was jest! He simply wanted to state that people with "deviant" (and by that I mean non christian mumbo-jumbo) sexual preferences should not be recognized as a minority!

In part, I agree with him. Maybe his wording was misleading, but it was supposed to convey meaning. Even me, the holy apostle of liberal smack-down, can appreciate that.

Please please please, let him explain himself. I don't want to be part of something that got a person banned who was explaining his views "creatively".

Just something to ponder, mr/mrs mod.

gay pride my a$$.... Er wait a second... that's what we supposedly should be celebrating for the next month... I agree with what genocide had to say, if it where a minority such as african americans, who had an impact on society, what have homosexuals done other than create more controversy?

<< I'm aware of my heritage on a daily basis and don't need a single month to point it out to me. >>

While you may not need a month to help you realize your heritage, I'm sure there's many out there that benefit from this month of recognition - whether they're black or not. I'm sure you can agree with that to some extent...

If being gay is really a choice... you can do the entire world a favor, and prove it by CHOOSING TO BE GAY... just for tommorow.... go choose to be gay for a day tommorow... go flirt with some men... and check out some cute masculine azz... and tell me what you think...

-Max

I figured you would know that being black is not a personal choice by your own experience. So why in the hell would you think being gay is any different? Do you, in any way believe that you could be gay and have sex with a man? I'm guessing you are going to say no. So therefore, there is no choice, because you can not do it.

P.S. If you thought I was even close to expressing my views about a black lifestyle, you completely dodged about 3 tons of sarcasm. There is no such thing as a black lifestyle, just like a gay lifestyle. I'm just telling you how stupid your post was.

I think it's a pretty well understood political word... Homophobia doesnt mean soley those who are afraid of Homosexuals... YES I KNOW WHAT PHOBIA MEANS... lets not get into a semantic argument here... we all pretty much understand what we mean when we say homophobic.... and yes... singling out Gay pride month over all the other minority months... is homophobic...

you wanna argue for the elimination of all minority recognition... fine.. up to you... I disagree but thats a whole nother discussion...

So you're trying to say Homosexuality isn't a choice at all? You and only you have an impact on the lifestyle you live in everyday - Unless something you have is hereditary (Nationality for instance), or a type of disease (ADD or Down Syndrome as an example), you can choose to change that about yourself.

And as for:

<< is no such thing as a black lifestyle, just like a gay lifestyle. >>

Let me say this, if you're a man, and you come home everyday to your husband/boyfriend - you're more than likely living a gay lifestyle. I most definitly say that there's such a thing as a gay lifestlye...

I think these proclimations mean nothing! Do you know that this is also national frozen yogurt month? I mean who cares about these special months? Bush stuck up for waht he belives and I say more power to him!

Doboji - so now we're changing definitions? NOT agreeing with the gay life style does NOT mean someone is homophobic! You obviously DO NOT know what phobia means to make a stupid statement like that...

<< Do you think you could ever have sex with a man? I know that I never could. So I can't choose to be gay >>

I also can't eat asparagus but that doesn't mean that for some biological reason I'm unable to, I just don't like it. On the other hand I love broccoli. Does that mean I'm genertically predisposed to behave in that way? Nope I just like it. Saying that because I can't be gay doesn't mean anythings. You could look at those of the same sex in a sexual way and not enjoy it. It proves nothing, thats just not your taste.

<< it's really noones business what they do >>

Nope not at all, so why try to make everyone intrude into their sexual preferences by having a gay pride month?

<<

I understand that it may help others to "see the light," but for me it doesn't matter one way or the other. If schools did a good job of integrating both white, black, asian, hispanic, etc. contributions/stories/actions/etc. into the educational curriculum, we wouldn't need a seperate month to explain it in the first place.

Thats precisely what I am saying... when we (heterosexuals) see our wives or our girlfriends... or when we go to a bar... and pick up chicks... the chemical stimulations we get are physiological... we donot choose to get turned on.. we GET turned on.. and the whole sexual act is chemistry all over the place... try getting this same reaction by looking at another man... ANY other man... it doesnt happen... these gay people have the reaction we have looking at women... when they look at men... it has nothing to do with choice...

Yes they can CHOOSE to deny outwardly admitting their feelings... and they can fake it forever... but why would anyone see that as a viable option?

Hey soybomb.... ten bucks says you're bisexual... and just wont admit it...

I hate tofu... and you know what.... having sex with another man... and eating tofu just arent a comparable example for me... maybe you just havent met the right man yet.... lol

<< Hey soybomb.... ten bucks says you're bisexual... and just wont admit it... >>

You missed it a few statements back when I said the views I'm talking about aren't neccessasrily my own, because in fact I do think its 80% biological, but I'm having more fun playing devils advocate here. Anyway I'm curious why you'd say that, or how that should pertain to the tread even.

Thats right pick a new word for disagreeing with the way someone else lives their life, specifically referring to gay people.

Wait, I'm supposed to come up with a word because you're using another one incorrectly?

OK Fine. For GWB to be totally fair, he would have to say NO to Black History month, and all the other days, weeks and months that "celebrate" the diversity of the peoples in America.

Black History month is probably a bit more socially relevant.

Many americans were agaist the wearing of furs and showed their displeasure by tossing paint on the furs people wore etc, so should the wearers of the fur been entitiled to their own month of recognition because of the abuse and oppression they had to live with?

Great point, Soy.

We're talking about minority culture here....

Why should we take a month to honor perhaps 5% of the population? I think something like Native American Pride Month would be far more socially relevant.

And since when is sexual preference "culture"? If I like to sleep with sheep, does that mean I get Shephard's Pride week?

Culture refers to ethnicity, nationality, or religion. NOT sexuality.

<< Maybe he thinks your sexy soybomb. >>

Heheh and I won't do what he wants for that $10 anyway 😀

<< does that mean I get Shephard's Pride week? >>

If I can get shepards pie week, I'm all for it 😉

The reason I say that is because you expressed that having sex with another man is similiar to eating a vegetable you don't like... for me thats like kissing a girl who I dont like that much... Having sex with a man is more like trying to have sex with asparagus than trying to eat the asparagus...

But seeing as how you're playing devils advocate.. that explains alot... and hey I love devils advocates... I do it myslef quite often... but why don'tcha switch sides?... I could use the help here.. I'm a bit outnumbered🙂
