Prepping for upgrade

I am getting ready to install a new cpu, video card and ram in my system, and was wondering if there is a proper order in which to do this. For example, should I install the new video card first and boot up and let the system settle into it before the cpu? Or should I install the cpu first (2400xp to 3200xp) and boot up and let the system settle in to that? My gut says to install the cpu first and play with the video card after. The Ram I feel can be last. Mobo is NF7-s v2.

All input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I would say CPU or RAM then Vid Card. It wouldn't really matter which you did first just make sure they each work fine before installing the other. I would say save the Vid Card for last

Once you have the hw sorted out, then install the sw in this order:
OS
sp
patches for the sp!!!
chipset drivers
agp drivers
audio drivers
etc etc etc

Make sure that when you are up and running, that you are not connected to the net without firewall cover - if you are using xp sp2, then make sure you have it on a cd ready to install it, without going on the net and doing it. After that, enable the firewall [xp firewall is better than no firewall, but certainly not the best]

Boot to your current installation, uninstall drivers for the current video card.

Shut down, then install the CPU, RAM & Video card - start and install the video drivers.
