Preparing for new computer setup tomorrow, few Q's

Right now I'm downloading the must have programs, firefox, AVG, 3dmark, orthos, that's what I have so far.

Windows XP SP1 and SP2, do I have to go download those right now or are they stored in full already on this computer? If they are I will move them to the storage drive...otherwise I'll go DL both.

What other must have programs am I missing?

thanks

1) unplug the other HDD, as well as external drives, memory sticks and USB card readers, before you begin Windows Setup.

2) if your Raptor is the 150GB model, then pre-SP1 Windows XP cannot see more than 137GB of it.

3) AVG is not as good as AOL Kaspersky. Consider Kaspersky instead.

4) remember that WinXP SP1 or SP0 are sitting ducks for network worms to auto-infect. TAKE PRECAUTIONS (scroll down to large pic).

5) do not install motherboard or video drivers until AFTER Service Pack 2.

If you want to address problems #2, #4 and #5 all at the same time, slipstream SP2 into your WinXP installation files and burn a fresh WinXP installation CD. AutoPatcher. If your Raptor is the 74GB one, you could also just isolate your system as recommended, and install SP2 offline, then your motherboard drivers and video drivers, and then finish your patching at Windows Update.
