So, if I'm gonna get me a new machine around Q1-Q2 into 2008 and I wanna to get some idea about what area I should be looking at.
I do game, but I'm not crazy about the High end stuff. (I'm still using A64 3200+ with x800xl, go figure :) )
What I like would be something around the mid-hi area at the time I get my machine.

I have some question about the CPU type I would need:
First of all, is Quad core CPU the only way to go?
If so, should I go for C2Q or Phenom?
I know the first wave of Phenom is not going to compare to C2Q in the same class, but how about the future waves?

Would anyone give me some advise?
Thank you in advance.

If you're planning on keeping it as long as you've kept this system, yes.

Most of us around here aren't known for our ability to predict the future. If we were, we'd be selling the lottery numbers for next week @ $100,000 a pop, instead of giving advice about computers.;) If you aren't planning on building your system for a few months, come ask us which is the better performer then, when we actually know.

I use the same setup as yours. I'm waiting for phenom. I want to give amd every chance to be competitive with Intel, and see how phenom is priced before I upgrade.

I was just giving a shot that if someone here got some "inside" news.
Since Phenom is going to be out in a couple of days, I think we'll get some information then.
