Prepare Yourselves: Facebook To Be Profoundly Changed

Well the relatively minor changes they made earlier this week went over so well, I can only imagine the wrath of god that will fall upon them with this "profound" change

yawn

People are bitching already. It's just a website, who gives a shit, the masses will learn to deal with it within 3 days.

honestly the changes had about zero impact on the way I use facebook. Nothing profound found.

The article is talking about new changes that are going to be announced later today. It's not talking about the stuff we saw yesterday.

From what I've heard, they're going to further integrate third-party apps with facebooks (pandora, netflix, xbox live) so that your friends would know exactly what you're playing/watching/listening to etc...

Considering I don't use any of these services, meh

whatever I use it more on my phone than anything else anyways

What we've learned so far:

Timeline - Complete redesign of the Profile page, now summarizing your life? (Bing is integrated in this)

Verbs - In addition to "Like"ing stuff, now you can also "eat", "watch", "listen", "ski" and share whatever you do. This is all tracked with something called OpenGraph I think.

Social TV - not sure what that is, but I heard it has something to do with Apple??

Music is part of Facebook now or something, not too clear on this one

So far it all sounds like a bunch of stuff I wouldn't use.

That would make my day if they purged the inactive accounts. I just want all my business deleted right out of their system for good.

I have gone from not caring about facebook to actually frustrated with it and not wanting to use it in 24 hours. The last time this happened was Windows ME.

My prediction was always that Google would eventually buy Facebook and do what they did with youtube and just keep trashing it.

Looks like Facebook does not need Google's help for that. 😛

I honestly don't care all that much. I hardly use it. Though I do find it kinda convoluted that companies make so many changes to things that work fine. It's something that always seems to happen, no matter what service/product you look at.

It'd be pretty amusing if these changes are what propels Google+ into the limelight.
