Prepaid credit cards

Has anyone ever tried to use one of those pre-paid credit cards to purchase something on-line? I want to buy something from a vendor which I don't really trust with my normal credit card information, but is the only place to buy this particular item. My other credit card don't have any way to generate a one-time use code, and the vendor ONLY takes credit cards.

I'm willing to eat a reasonable bit of service fee to protect myself - Something like $20 would be fine. I just don't want to do this unless I'm confident that this will work to buy something on-line, just exactly like a regular credit card.

Thoughts? Anyone ever done this before?

Nice find!

It's helpful especially if you are under 18 and don't have your own credit card.

1) Send Paypal to a friend who has a credit card.
2) Friend sends you a WebCert with a MasterCard 16 digit credit card number.
3) Everyone is happy.

Very cool, thanks RossMAN - I should have known you would have the answer! Just out of curiosity, which prepaid card did you get and use successfully?

I used a WebCert (as I mentioned earlier) worked just fine. It's nice that you can specify the billing address, shipping address, you get a real 16 digit MasterCard cc number and even CCV security code. Worked like a charm

I use charter one gift cards. you can use any billing address you want to make online purchases, and the gift cards are free

Anyone know any other companys that do the same thing as webcertificate? I have some money in webcertificate that I would like to "regift" but I can't buy a webcert with a webcert...ahhh
