meh, walmart.com?

I've never pre-ordered a game from them before, how is it? Do they end up getting the game as quickly as everyone else?

What the heck, ordered, thanks OP

Wait, I thought Walmart had a policy against selling games with the Mature rating?

Maybe that conflicted with their policy of making a profit.

59.82 + 2.98 Shipping + 5.19 NY Sales tax = 67.99 = :(

I guess I'll order anyways, I'm a huge HL freak. I suppose I can always cancel if something more attractive crops up.

Thanks OP

I think you're thinking cds with the Parental Advisory warning. They've always sold all types of games. Of course now they card you when you buy a mature rated game, but thats a good thing.

You might also be thinking of them pulling Stuff, Maxim, and other similar magazines from their shelves.

what exactly does collectors edition have that the normal version doesn't have to justify the price difference?

a Gollum like statuette of Gabe Newell?

Steam spanktervision googles?

or maybe team fortress 2 perhaps?

That's what I was wondering. For $80 MSRP it must be something substantial...

Is walmart good at getting these products out when they're released? I'm tempted to pre-order because it's 20 dollars cheaper, but I don't want to have to wait an extra week or two for the game to be delivered.

never had a problem with Steam.
I've left it on the regular settings (which is recommended), so maybe that's it.

Don't get too excited, it almost certainly won't be released by the second, but hopefully by the end of september. The best site that I know of for hl2's status is www.halflifesource.com. It rules!

They spoke w/ the developers of the game and they're hoping to get the game into Vivendi's (the publisher) hands in August, and that means the game should be available in September. September 2nd is too early though, unless they deliver it by the end of this week.

That's not very nice, I've been waiting this game for over a year now and it's finally coming out soon. Anyone who owns condition zero can beta test counter strike source (the hl2 multiplayer) starting August 10th. (the preload is Aug 5th). Plus, the game is about to be delivered to the publisher, and unless the publisher says, "we should wait til Christmas to increase sales," it should be out early fall. (Late Sept i'm guessing).

I will personally kill everyone at Vivendi if they delay this game to increase sales.

Sexy magazines are bad but exploitation of your workers is ok :)

They probably delayed it now to increase sales in condition zero. That game got awful reviews and i actually want to buy it just for cs:source

I actually have this preordered over at ebgames.com using the $20 gift certificate I got from buying UT2k4 collectors edition. What are the chances that EBGames.com will price match Walmart?? I highly doubt they will keep it at 79.99 if a competitor is selling it that much less.
