Really sad story. Thankfully her and the baby are okay.

DENVER - It is the first thing you notice when you see her. Her eyes are black and blue. You even see it before you realize she is pregnant.

"It just hurt really, really bad. I've never felt pain like that before," Carrie said.

9NEWS is not using her last name to protect her identity.

She is a pizza delivery woman who works in the LoDo area. On Tuesday around 9 p.m., she went to East 31st Avenue and Lafayette Street to deliver an order.

"I knocked and nobody answered," she said.

As Carrie started to walk back to her car, three men approached her. Before she knew it, a gun was sticking into her stomach.

"They put it right here," she said. "They tried to keep it low."

"I had the phone in my hand and I had the pizzas. They were jerking it all from me. I didn't even have an opportunity to give it to them. Before I knew it, I was taking blows to the face, put my head down, got lots of blows back of my head and to my side," she said. "They knocked me down and just started kicking me."

She was screaming and she could hear them saying, "Shoot her. Just shoot her."

The men took off with the pizza, her cell phone and her wallet. Carrie laid there bruised and bleeding, but she had more on her mind that just herself.

"I remember screaming to the people that were helping me, 'I'm pregnant. Call 911. I need help,'" she said.

Denver Police are looking for clues and hope someone has answers.

"This one really strikes a nerve with us. You have a woman out there just trying to earn a living. Three guys attack her, assault her, it's a great concern of ours," Denver Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said. "We need the community's help as well."

Carrie says she is still very scared and shaken up, but hopes her story helps find the men that attacked her. She had a check up on Thursday and doctors say she and her baby are doing just fine.

No description of the three men? What were they wearing, height, race, build?

A. Those people are scum and need to be removed from society

B. Why is a pregnant lady delivering pizzas?

C. If you were going to ambush somebody for a wallet, why would "Pizza Delivery person" come to mind?

A. Yes.
B. Probably not the most well off person and needs the money.
C. Food and only a little bit of money. Ambushing builds up an appetite. Two birds with one stone? 😵

Police are on the lookout for two men carrying a pizza, a purse and a cell phone.

If I was an owner I would put her on pizza-making or cashier duty. More time in a vehicle = more chance of an accident.

Well there would be issues in executing that, but yeah, if she was far enough along I would too. I don't think the article ever went into what stage of her pregnancy she was in.

What kind of lowlife scum order a pizza with the sole intent on beating the poor delivery person for the food and their wallet?

"thankfully, SHE and the baby are okay"

jesus christ...

does anyone know proper english anymore?

wow, i just had a whole post typed out to tell you how wrong you were, and i just realized before hitting "submit" that you were responding to the OP's first sentence, not what the doctors said at the end of the quote.

She's lucky she's white.

Usually, people don't care about poor people getting beat up if they are black.

Hold the presses for fat ugly poor white woman, though!

A pregnant black woman getting beat up by a bunch of rednecks would have made a bigger story, like prime time news across the country with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson on every news networks. This story just made local news.

Very common when the economy tanks

Desperate people do desperate things

and my guess is that you would defend them.

But, really, your analysis is way off. This was a gang mugging, maybe even an gang initiation. Economy wouldn't have had a thing to do with it.

I can recall about 3 or 4 incidents in the last few months around here. They call in an order, use an empty house as a delivery address, then hide when the driver shows up. Driver goes to the door, they jump the driver and take the driver's money, sometimes the car as well.

i delivered pizza's for pizza hut years ago (about 20 years ago). The pay was actually good but i quite when a women i worked with got mugged and put in the hospital.

it had its fun parts (delivering to drunk college kids who just give wads of cash and getting a$50 tip or naked women asnwereing the door (yes it happens))

but man the risk of getting hurt didn't just killed the job for me.

A. I agree fully

B. It's a job and she can probably make more money from delivery because she gets tips.

C. Delivery people often get paid in cash. If you catch them after they've made a few big deliveries they can have a hundred or two on them.
