A DEPRAVED burglar raped a heavily pregnant woman as accomplices held her husband at gunpoint, police said today.

A £20,000 reward has been offered by cops to snare the beasts who carried out the despicable crime.

The 33-year-old woman was watching TV with her partner at their home in Finsbury Park, North London, when they heard a disturbance outside.

The husband, 39, went to investigate and was confronted by three masked suspects who stormed their way in through the front door before he had time to close it.

They put an object in a carrier bag, thought to be a gun, to his head before stealing the keys to an Audi TT, a laptop, mobile phones and cash.

As one of the men pointed the gun at the husband another then marched the seven-months-pregnant wife up to a bedroom where he forced her to give him oral sex, now classified as rape.

The woman's husband said: "I pleaded, I was shouting, 'she's pregnant, she's pregnant, leave off her, tell me what you want' ".

But the attackers hit him with the gun before one dragged his wife up the stairs.

The traumatised mum said:"At that stage I just wanted to protect my baby I was absolutely terrified and being so late in the pregnancy I didn't want to get into a fight where they might hurt me or hurt the baby.

"He said it was my lucky day."

She continued: "Everything that you believe to be safe is no longer safe. You can't walk into the bedroom and feel relaxed because you remember that someone was in there who wasn't supposed to be in there."

The shocking crime happened in May 2008, but cops only released the details today, after a request by the couple for no publicity.

The controversial decision not to release the news by officers from the Islington borough's Operation Sapphire sex crimes unit has ended up with the suspects being free for 17 months during which time it is feared they may have committed further offences.

And astonishingly cops have sat on CCTV images taken near the incident since the attack until today too.

Police say two men were spotted on camera at a mini market just before the incident at about 10.20pm.

A third man is pictured on camera at just after 10pm.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: "The woman was forced to perform a sex act, amounting to oral rape.

"We are keen to trace these men, if only to eliminate them from our inquiries."

Detective Inspector Robert Pack, the investigating officer, said he hoped "allegiances had changed" over the past 14 months as he appealed for information.

He said: "Every rape is a very serious crime but what makes this all the more shocking was that the victim was so clearly heavily pregnant.

"Concerns for the unborn baby can only have exacerbated what was already an emotionally and physically traumatic experience."

He added: "Allegiances may have changed over the last 14 months and we would urge anyone with information to contact us.

"There is a reward on offer of up to £20,000 and I hope there are people out there who are prepared to do the right thing and tell us what they know.

"Do you know the men who did this? Do you remember hearing anyone boasting about stealing an Audi TT around this time? We would like to hear from you."

The suspect who carried out the sexual assault is described as black, 6ft, aged 18 to 25 and stocky. He wore a black balaclava, black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms and black shoes.

A second man was black or Asian, 5ft 6ins and about 18. He wore light grey tracksuit bottoms, black trainers and a zip-up jacket with red sleeves.

The third suspect, who had the gun, was black, 5ft 10ins, and aged between 18 and 22. He was wearing burgundy tracksuit bottoms.

The full reconstruction and appeal will be shown on Crimewatch tonight at 9pm on BBC One.

At least only the robbers and rapists had guns in this situation. If the home owners had guns, someone might have gotten hurt! Hey Brits, looks like you need stricter handgun laws. Oh, all handguns are already totally illegal? Well that seems to be working well.

people are fucked up all over.

this kind of shit happens everyday but you never hear about it from many third world countries because they don't have the media to get the word out, and our media does not care, nor can they cover every story like this one.

Handguns aren't totally illegal in Great Britain. It isn't hard at all enjoy the legal right to the means to defend yourself there, just so long as you are rich enough to afford the qualifications.

This really puts things in perspective here.

Source
In 2008, the estimated number of forcible rapes (89,000)?the lowest figure in the last 20 years?decreased 1.6 percent from the 2007 estimate

Looks like P&N has some 89,000 topics to create to cover every rape in the US, let alone US + Europe. Understanding that, you can tell why the media does not often choose the cover it and why they pick only a select few cases to focus on.

I think JFK said it well:

...to amuse and entertain ...to emphasize the trivial and the sentimental ...to simply "give the public what it wants"

So we can just post a link and cut and paste an article now? That's good to know.

The rules also require original thought/commentary.

Yeah that's my bad. It was under a dotted line and was so small it just looked like the typical sigs I see. I thought that's what it was.

I think I'd take a bullet before I allowed my wife to be raped in front of me.

Literally, over my dead body does that happen.

That's a horrible thing. These thugs deserve the worst.

Which in Britain means they don't get a gold star for that week.

Agree ....... I would never let that happen to my wife while I was alive and able to fight back.

If I were the wife, I would have bit the thug's dick clean off, and let my husband take a bullet along with me if that is what it came down to.

Really? Seems short sighted. I'd hate to see my wife raped, but getting killed over it, and cheating the child of a father for its entire life. I'd put the child first, especially if I think my wife will live.

Now if it looks like they are going to kill her afterwords, then yea, over my dead body.

Yet for all you know you could have wound up dead in a car accident or such the very next day regardless. I'd rather got out fighting for what is right than living though allowing something so horribly wrong.

getting shot while being held down by 2 dudes while a 3rd one has the gun pointed at you doesn't seem like going out fighting...seems more like suicide or really bad decision making skills...

unless they provide an opportunity for you to make a move, just blindly attempting to go after the gunman while two guys are holding you down doesn't seem like it would help you or your wife very much...

I took issue with TechBoyJK's rationalization for remaining submissive in such a situation, but never suggested doing anything blindly, Are you unwilling to address what I did say?

You die, your wife is still raped, and probably killed. How exactly does that help anyone? At least the couple made it out alive, and it sounds like the pregnancy was carried to term. Seems to me that's a much better outcome than a whole family dying.

Also, it sounds like the man started to stuggle, at which point he was pistolwhipped. "But the attackers hit him with the gun before one dragged his wife up the stairs." He could well have been knocked unconscious, in which case he can't really do much, can he?

Okay... Has anyone read "A Clockwork Orange" or saw the Kubrick movie?

Isn't this exactly what happens in the book?

There are no suspects. A suspect is a known person that investigators believe may have committed a particular crime. The article is misusing the term, too.

Edit: This is why authorities will frequently say, "We have no suspects."
