It's best to check after she's missed a period. The hormone levels are higher then

Hmm I thought it was pretty much a guarantee if she missed a period shes pregnant...

not really.. i miss periods on an almost regular basis :) a lot of women miss periods for no reason other than stress.

Get rid of some of that stress, go to a day spa. ;)

yep, it can happen.

also, if she's working out hard it can cause her to miss periods.

if she is 12 days late and the pregnancy test showed she wasn't pregnant she probably isn't.
try another test to be sure.

The symptoms of pregnancy are there, she is going to the washroom alot, she has back pains and stomach aches.
so how about make a dr.'s appt or try another test? sometimes what you think are "symptoms" are not.

good luck. you're hoping she is pregnant?

yes, we did make a doctors appt, last week for just a check, we had the doctor check after 2-5 days after her missed pregnancy, the test showed negative, but she has the back pain, the stomach pain, frequent bathroom visits.

you must have boinked her pretty good. do it alittle softer next time, no reason to be so rough.

how old is she? maybe she has some perimenopause going on.

she is 28
still could be that. (not to be a downer)

did she always get her periods regularly before this?

Yes she does.
AGES AND STAGES OF MENOPAUSE
PERIMENOPAUSE is the pre-menopausal stage in which all the erratic and annoying symptoms occur, such as changes in the menstrual cycle, hot flashes, night sweats, panic attacks, facial hair, mood swings, chest pains, etc. Although it usually begins when a woman is around 40-45, it can come MUCH earlier and MUCH later. Women in their latter 20's can experience perimenopause, while some women in their early to mid-50's haven't even started to notice period irregularities.

If she's on Birth Control pills, they can sometimes mess with her cycle depending on how her body reacts to them. It just depends on hormonal levels, etc. Best thing to do is schedule an appointment with the doc and do a blood test. But, most-likely, if you've practiced safe methods...it's probably just hormones causing her to skip one. It happens.

<bob>You've been missing a lot of periods lately</bob>

My wife was pregnant and we used a pregnancy test strip. It came out negative. Then she went to the hospital and had herself tested and it came out positive. Go figure.

Home pregnancy tests are just as acurate as serum pregnancy at doctors or hospital. Since the level of beta-HCG (pregnancy hormone) should double every 2 days wait another 4 days and recheck. As stated in other posts there are many factors that will cause irregular menses, especially if she was on Birth control pills before.
If test still negative after a second missed period see OB/GYN for further testing.
