Yes. Getting a period is not necessarily a sign you're not pregnant. Getting a "negative" on the pregnancy test is not necessarily a sign you're not pregnant if taken early on. I've had both of these happen and I was pregnant both times. If you get a negative, retake the test after a few days or a week. If you have a light period, you might want to take a test if you think your birth control method may have failed.
