2014: Most desk jobs ranging from law to computer science will either be in China/India/South & S. East Asia or the wage of those here will be cut to levels equal of that. N. Korea will still be threaten to fvck over everyone but will stop as long as we pay ransom. Chinese labor will become less popular as wages continue to fall here . There will be a growing separation between the rich and the poor and less and less people will be in between. There will be de facto prevention of new business because of the inability to compete with massive corporations while starting up.

I could be right, I could be wrong. I admit though that I have a pretty negative view point.

BTW, I don't really support the Communist party in my sig, it supports me!

Well, actually, people will see the light and elect me as supreme ruler of earth in 2012.

I'll of course, decline the offer.

It won't happen that quickly.

Who are these companies going to see their services to when America falls? What will happen to the largest economy in the world within 10 years that will cause its entire collapse.
There are a million questions.

I read some articles on offshoring...

Pretty much the one I thought was most realistic for economy was one in which they used past economic outsourcing, consisting primarily blue collar workers who lost factory jobs to second and third world countries and how new types of jobs were made (think information age and economic boom) to compensate as a prediction of what would happen as the outcome of white collar worker outsourcing.

problem is that we have a fatal circle of

- weak economic, poor(er) people, weak spending power
- people buy 'cheap' (walmart...) goods MADE in china
- money flows to Asia (China, Taiwan, Japan)... "Toyota", almost 100% of Electronics etc///

the more we spend OUR money and 'send' it to Asia, the poorer we become because there is not the same flow BACK to us. (from Asia)

The more cheaper we buy, the more companeis have to downsiz/layoff and outsource because they have to be competive with the Asians.
More outsourcing, more cut-downs means less jobs means poorer people

My prediction:

short term: 30 years or so:

China and other asian countries the only countries with a economic growth.
US and western Europe 'collapse' (if not already) economically. Yes, i think its already happening.
"Artificial" demand creation (and busy econmy) will be 'created' by fighting useless wars.
Whereas here the qeustion is whether the COST of war is higher than the benefits for the economy.

More people unemployed, working @ extremely low rates, no insurance. Breakdown of health system/welfare. (Is fact already, get the numbers!)...more violence..otherwise agree with your predictions..just take everything today and multiplicate it 10x or so

wrong.

but there's definitely a reason I've been resisting my company's attempts to move me into a phone support position. the money would be nicer, but I'd never feel like I had any job security because of the threat of out-sourcing. then again, sometimes I also worry that being so specialized in hardware is going to hurt me down the road when I look at moving to a bigger company...

damned if you do, and damned if you don't.

I do think out-sourcing will continue, but not to the level that you specified.
