Original Predator film was the only movie to have two future governors and a gubenatorial candidate as stars in the film. Then there was Running Man, which just had two future governors.

Useless trivia aside, Predators looks interesting.

I'm really hoping they don't fuck this up, I'm digging the R rating, not some PG-13 kiddy shit.

The original Predator with Arnold is one of my all time favorites.

A PG13 predator movie would be totally fucked up. the gore is like the best part of the movie.

Just got back from the premiere... I thought it was pretty good. Maybe not as good as the original, but better than 2 or avp.

Without doing a spoiler, it's definitely meant as a sequel to the first movie, not a re-do.

I thought that this was a prequel to P1?

From wikpieida:

Preliminary reviews for Predators have been mostly positive. The movie currently possesses a 77% 'fresh' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 34 reviews, with an average score of 5.9/10.

Many critics hail Predators for doing away with the trends set by the poorly received Alien vs. Predator and its sequel, and for getting back to the simpler plot established by the original Predator movie. The primary complaint leveled against the film is the failure of the cast to capture, as film critic Roger Ebert described, the "quiet suspense" of the original Predator film.

All movies at wikpiedia have a "Reception" section that is usually pretty good.

Anyways, it sounds like it is going to be on par with P2 anyways, which I liked. Not as good as P1 though. If the Tomato Meter stays over 50% I am going to go see it.

At one point it was 80% fresh on 16 reviews. I'm guessing that this one will end up in the 60% ballpark.

Too many other new releases I want to see this weekend, but I may see this eventually.

Except for Dakota Fanning's stage directions: "Never shut up for longer than 13.8 microseconds."

I can't stand her in a movie to this day because of War of the Worlds. Every time I see her I just see someone screaming nonstop.

One more day for Predators, can't wait.

I watch this when it is on tv and my wife just doesn't get it. This has to be the most watched movie for me in the past five years easy.

It will blow.
But my buddy has almost convinced me to go see it with him anyway.
Hope it doesn't blow.

No it's set as a sequel to P1 and afaicr ignores all the others.

Spoilers:
At one point, one of the characters is revealed to know about the predators already, because of an intel briefing - the char describes how ahnuld, in Guatamala '87, used mud to defeat the IR vision thingies.

Oh snap, the reviews coming in at rotten tomatoes are fairly positive so far. Looks like this is not going to be another AVP disaster movie. I was planning on seeing a matinee tomorrow but maybe I'll go see the midnight showing with a few friends who are going.

Exactly. Topher Grace? Adrian Brody? They can't even compare to the physique of Jason Statham.

This came up in the Q&A after the movie, there was some question if Brody could look beefy enough for the role. He spent some time in the gym and rocked up a bit and imo looked enough for the part... but it would probably take a year and a couple of cycles for him to get near the Arnold/Jesse realm.

P1 was from an era of great action movies. Predator was very much an action movie. Like most movies, the Predator was the bad guy with better weapons. I nthe end, the good guy prevails. It's jsut a huge twist o nthe typcial action movie from it's era, making it both unique and awesome. It's like Die Hard with mini-guns! I can't blame a woman for not "getting it".
