I could not imagine this being brought to TV in the 90s, they would have fucked it up. Or, even to the movies.

I hope they stay very close to the source material.

WOW! I certainly hope they keep the series as weird, intense and gorey as it is.
Best comic series i've read so far, and i've read a lot.

Really good news!

i know, i hope that idiot Rogen gives it the respect it deserves and doesnt fuck it up.

I wonder of they'll have Saint of Killers, and if so, have the story line when he kills God.

Vaya...con dios...

edit: although the image in the OP makes me think this comic is more about touching little boys.

I just can't see them sticking too close to the source. There's just too much fucked up stuff in it.. comic spoiler..
For some reason the guy who built and fucked a 'woman' made out of meat pops into my mind and that wasn't hte worst thing.
I do hope they keep the running Herr Starr joke going.

This looks really good. It's kinda all over the place in terms of genres but that could be interesting. I'd love to see some serious 'fusion' shows on tv and AMC is probably the place to start.

I'm only semi familiar with the comic, but it seems they're keeping it fairly close to the source so far. Only one episode in it's hard to really tell. I just want them to introduce The Saint of Killers .... "not enough gun".

great comic book, let's hope it doesn't wind up the same as Constantine did.

also .. when will they come around and make a Sandman comic? and Transmetropolitan too, please.

Damn the premier was freaking awesome! This series is promising as Hell!
But second episode is only in two weeks!?!?!?

I read the first one many years ago at my buddy's comic shop. Watched it last night and thought it was pretty good. I have to re-watch it again because my upstairs dog was going fucking nuts because of Victoria Day fireworks...couldn't hear half the dialogue.

thanks neighbours for leaving your big ass dog home alone for the whole weekend.

Er, Sandman TV series, you mean?
I just don't know that I can see it working.

I haven't had the chance to watch it, but everyone I've talked to on it says they've already gone a completely different direction than the books. According to some comic site Rogen said it was Ennis that insisted that it be different. Seems he aligns (and I agree) that some stuff written for the comic medium shouldn't and doesn't translate into live action. Not sure if it'll make for a better or worse series, but I expect a lot more dragging here and there while we watch people make long speeches about hating peas that people will run around declaring brilliant acting.

I've read some other Garth Ennis stuff, and enjoyed all of it. Haven't read Preacher.

Preacher was where Ennis first really had his chains off. It's where his twisted mind really started to get it's legs under it. It's def a Ennis book full of really twisted stuff surrounded by grounded characters. It's just a bit rough around the edges compared to his newer works. As long as you aren't offended by religious mockery (it is about
a guy that literally gets the Voice of God
), or really dark sexual jokes it's worth the read.

I can see them making a Transmetropolitan show. I think that would lend itself to TV. As much as I loved Sandman, it's just too dense and would end up being very expensive. I'd never say never, but it's going to be a really hard sell as it makes Game of Thrones look like a cop drama in terms of keeping up with who's who and what's going on.
