Its $129.99 at EBGames.com but they give you a $30 coupon for future purchases. It's released March 21, 2003 long ways away but might be hard to get when its released.

Oooooh, I want one of these... I'll probably wait until they actually come out though. I don't really need another $30 in more games or accessories. I've got more games than I can play already :)

Now to figure out how much I can ebay the old GBA for...

I thought the whole point of pre-orders was to get a better deal, this is extortion. That new gba is sweet though.

I thought the new GBA was supposed to list at $99? It does give $30 back, but I don't like being locked into buying from one place. :p

Preorder is also up at Best Buy:

Platinum

and

Cobalt

$99.99, straight-up.

The third color (which will be released in Japan and Europe) is black (or "Jet", as Nintendo is likely to call it). Japanese product page is here (pictures of all 3 at bottom):

$129.99 is a little much, but if you don't have GBA currently I can see how this would be some what of a deal. Buy it and get a game up to $30. But if you already have games, this sucks. I for one don't have one yet, but I am getting this not necessarily at eb though.

I don't get it, why is paying $30 for a $30 coupon for future purchases a good deal.. It's not even consider a deal ,its' like placing $1 in a Token machine and recieve 4 tokens back, which you can only use at that location.

As for the new gameboy it does look good and all, but wouldn't this new design make pressing the sholder buttons harder, will your index finger hit each other when pressing those top sholder buttons. ;) ,, why oh why do I have to have big hands with long fingers.

I'm sure EB Games will get their share of orders, but I find it hard to believe that someone would go with that deal when you can preorder from Amazon or Best Buy for $99.99.

HiTek21, you should edit your original post to reflect the other locations where you can preorder so that this can be the consumate Gameboy Advance SP deal thread.

I think it was Gamespot where I read that they had reservations about the shoulder buttons based only on seeing the pictures. But, once they got it in their hands and played with it, it wasn't an issue.

EB is horrible for this. Whenever a new system comes out. You can't just buy a system. You need to buy an extra controller, memory card, and 2 games just to get the system at MSRP. After the whole backlash they got from the release of the Xbox and Game cube they said they won't do it anymore. And that lasted until the next system came out. So here is a way you have to spend another $30 just to get something.....grr...

They had it available for $99.99 the first couple days after it was announced, but now...forget it.

I was going to preorder from them too, but like the guy above me said - they're so lame when it comes to system preorders...you always need to get a bundle :frown:

I know I will.

Thats good for you if you have games already for the GBA, I don't have the GBA yet so I don't have any games. You are going to need to spend $30 just to get a decent game or 2 to play

I'm glad they're finally releasing a GBA you can actually play. I had one for about a week, never could see the screen, and got rid of it. I might get one of these, but I'm tired of being burned by system releases (you know, buying it the first day, only to have the price dive shortly thereafter) so I'll be waiting at LEAST until Christmas to get this thing. 3

You can also pre-order at any gamestop for 99. Better than ordering at best buy or amazon, no wait for shipping, and they get stuff the day after its released like EB does.

Anybody have any info one the Front Lighting System? is it a backlight like the Afterburner kits or is it like one of those cheesy lights they install between the screen cover and the LCD screen (like on a watch)?

Afterburner IS a frontlight. I would imagine this to be similar, but have yet to see any images or videos posted of the actual screen in action.

They come in different colors.
if you just can't wait and want to show off to all your friends that you got your new GBA SP a month ahead of them you could always get the Import.

There is no difference between the import and the US version, all games will still work with eachother. I was considering this, but $145 compared to $130 /$30 credit is hard to pass up.

Edit because I read the whole thread. $99 pre-order still lgood. Thanks.

Best Buy, as well as Amazon is mentioned in the posts preceding yours as having it for $99
