Pre-interview Social

Ok, I landed an on-campus interview with E&Y one week from today. They are having a "Social" the evening before (Sunday evening) with the interviewees to be in attendance. The dress is casual so I know the atmosphere should be somewhat relaxed (no, I do not plan on wearing jeans or shorts). Has anyone been to something like this before? What should I expect? Is it just a more relaxed kind of interviewing? I'm sure I'll come up with more questions, these are the one just off the top of my head.

TIA 🙂

Wow, the good ol' days of college. It seems like all the accounting firms do these socials. Good luck.

They are just seeing how you react in a social setting. Be friendly and introduce yourself to as many people as possible. Be outgoing in doing so.

So basically it is a "mini" interview? Is it a good time to ask questions about the company or should I save that for the interview? It doesn't specifically state in the email that it is for interviewees only, would I leave the wrong impression by emailing (or calling) the contact person and asking if it is fine for my fiancee' to attend with me?

you will be hanging out with the people that will be interviewing you. since the common ground you all have is E&Y, it is obviously going be to a conversation topic. i would only really ask questions that wouldnt normally fit in an interview. save the bland job related stuff for the interview. like someone else mentioned, the purpose is for them get a feel for how you interact with people. just be friendly and be yourself. i would bother about bringing the fiance. they arent interested in her, just you. and they will be taking care of the tab, so unless they said ok to bring a guest i wouldnt ask.

edited to insert some verbs....

Ok, I won't bother asking about bringing my fiancee.
